Itinerary

You'll start before sunrise for a boat tour on the Ganges River, then head to Kashi Vishwanath Temple once the sun comes up. After that, walk through the old city's narrow streets and busy alleyways to get a feel for how locals live here. Grab a traditional lunch at a local spot around midday, then take a short drive out to Sarnath, which is a key Buddhist pilgrimage location about an hour away. Come back to Varanasi by evening for the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat, where you'll see the elaborate ritual on the water. If you're up for it, finish with either a quiet walk along the ghats or another boat ride to wind down the day.
