Rio, Illa grande and Iguazu were amazing and all travel arrangements were efficiently sorted out . I was disappointed in São Paulo as I had to make my own arrangements to the hotel and back to the bus station . It is a huge city and I felt intimated and did not do any tours. This is a concrete jungle and only known for good food . I just walked around the hotel to food and craft markets. Overall good value for my tour and great country to visit .Show more

Hi Rose! It's good to hear that you had fun during your Sub-Tropical experience, even if Sao Paulo didn't live up to your expectations. Being in a 20 million people mega-city can certainly be intimidating, but i'm glad that you made the best of your time either way!

Can you list the hotels that we would stay in when booking the DBL Budget Hotel option?
- HI Travel South AmericaOperator•Written July 2026
These are the hotels we usually use (subject to availability)
Nacional Inn Copacabana - Rio de Janeiro
Pousada Bela Vista Abraao - Ilha Grande
  Pousada Corsário - Paraty
  Sooz Hotel - Sao Paulo
  El Pueblito - Puerto Iguazú

Would it be possible to stay in the first hotel already on the night we arrive before the tour officially starts?
- HI Travel South AmericaOperator•Written July 2026
Yes, we can book the night of the 21st for you and your friend.

  Traveler•Written July 2026
As we booked the hotel option instead of the hostel option towels will be available for us, right? What about a mosquito nets for the bed, is it a common thing in Brazil? Should we bring one or is it available there?
- HI Travel South AmericaOperator•Written July 2026
Regarding the towels, yes, as you have booked the hotel option, towels will be available at the accommodation.

About mosquito nets, for the areas included in your itinerary they are not usually necessary. We would recommend bringing a mosquito repellent, which should be enough. Hotels in Brazil generally do not provide mosquito nets, so if you prefer to have one, you are welcome to bring your own.

  Traveler•Written August 2025
I also see in the "not included things" that towels in hostels and also all entries to sites are not included. Could you please clarify all costs for those things as I need to calculate the overall budget needed?
- HI Travel South AmericaOperator•Written August 2025
The towels in hostel dorm option means that you have to bring your own towel to the accommodation, because it does not provide one when you want to use the showers. And the entrance fees to the Iguazu National Park are: Argentina Side: approx. 35 USD per person. Brazil Side: approx. 25 USD per person. You can buy them online or onsite, as you wish.

  Traveler•Written August 2025
My husband would need a visa to cross the Argentina border, therefore we are unable to take the tour on the Argentinian side. Is there anything else we can do, suggested as alternative?
- HI Travel South AmericaOperator•Written August 2025
We can arrange accommodation in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil side). And you could still visit the brazilian side of the National Park. We could also add the Macuco* or visiting "Parque das Aves" (Birds' Park), which could "compensate" for not visiting Argentina. *Macuco is an activity you can take on the Brazilian side of the Park, which is a rafting/kayak experience through the waterfalls river.

  Traveler•Written August 2025
The birds park sounds great, is this activity included, also with a transfer arranged?
- HI Travel South AmericaOperator•Written August 2025
The Birds Park would include transfers but not the entrance fee to the park. (It costs approx. 18 USD per person) It's usually done right after visiting the Iguaçu Park, as it takes half day to do both activities.
