Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Ullapool
You'll head north out of Edinburgh, crossing the Queensferry Crossing with views of the Forth Rail Bridge below. The drive takes you through Fife's farmland and into Perthshire's forests before entering the Grampian Mountains. Once you reach the Cairngorms National Park, you'll stop in Aviemore for lunch and some time to walk around. After that, you'll pass by Loch Ness with photo stops along the way. Before the day ends, you'll visit Corrieshalloch Gorge for a forest walk and see the waterfall from the suspension bridge, then settle into Ullapool for the night with time to check out the harbour.

- Day 2
Ullapool to Stornoway
The morning starts with breakfast overlooking Loch Broom before you board a 2.5-hour ferry to Stornoway on Lewis. Keep an eye out during the crossing for dolphins or whales. Your driver-guide takes you around the North West coast of Lewis, stopping at crofting villages and coastal ports to get a sense of the local life. You'll head out to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse where you can see views toward America. The evening is yours to explore Stornoway, which has a lively port town feel with restaurants and local shops.

- Day 3
Stornoway (Lewis)
You'll start at the Arnol Blackhouse to see what traditional farming life looked like on this remote island. Next, you're off to Dun Carloway, an ancient stone fort that was built before 100 AD. Note that Calanais Stone Circle isn't open until Spring 2026 due to preservation work, so instead you'll have extra time exploring western Lewis beaches and mountains, which gives you more freedom to wander around the landscape. By late afternoon, you'll head back to Stornoway.

Lewis to Portree (Skye)
You'll travel to Harris to see its highest peaks and white-sand beaches, with Luskentyre being the main stop. There's a lunch break, and depending on the weather, you might have a picnic right on the beach. After that, you'll board a ferry to Portree, which is Skye's largest town. You'll settle in there for the next two nights.

- Day 5
Portree (Skye)
Your driver-guide takes you around Skye's main highlights, with a good chance you'll see Trotternish Ridge in the north. The geological features there include the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, and the Quiraing mountain pass, all with those surreal rock formations and dramatic cliffs that make the landscapes here so striking. The drive through the area feels otherworldly. You'll head back to Portree for the evening and grab a seafood dinner somewhere in town.

- Day 6
Portree to Edinburgh
You'll cross the Skye Bridge and stop to photograph Eilean Donan Castle, a stone fortress sitting on a loch. From there, you pass beneath Ben Nevis, Britain's tallest mountain, though it's often covered in clouds. Next comes Glencoe, one of Scotland's most iconic landscapes with rugged slopes and a dark historical story. After driving through the Lowlands, you'll arrive back in Edinburgh in the early evening.
