Arrival in Sumatra
You'll arrive in Sumatra at any point during the day. Once you get settled, you'll meet your CEO and the rest of your group for a welcome briefing that sets the stage for what's ahead.

Medan to Bukit Lawang
Today covers Medan, Sumatra's largest city. You'll check out the Al-Mashun Great Mosque, then head to Maimun Palace with its 30 rooms. The Vihara Gunung Timur Temple comes next, featuring classic Chinese architecture. After wandering through the historic Pajak Ikan Lama market, grab lunch at a local Padang restaurant. Later you'll drive to Bukit Lawang for the night.

Gunung Leuser National Park & Cooking Class
A moderate trek through Gunung Leuser National Park, Indonesia's largest, takes up your morning as you search for orangutans and other wildlife in their natural habitat. After the hike, cool off with a river tube ride back to where you started. By evening you'll participate in a local cooking class learning how to make traditional Batak dishes.

Bukit Lawang to Berastagi
You'll drive from Bukit Lawang toward Berastagi with scenic stops at Gundaling Hill and a local fruit market along the way. After checking in at your hotel, head to Sibayak Hot Spring to soak in the volcanic hot waters and relax from the previous day's activity.

Berastagi to Samosir Island
Drive to Dokan Village to spend time with the Batak ethnic group and walk through their village, learning about centuries of their history. Next you'll see Sipiso Piso Waterfall, then continue to Parapat Harbor. A ferry ride across Lake Toba brings you to Samosir Island, a large volcanic island. After settling into your hotel, join the group for dinner.

- Day 6
Samosir Island
You'll start your day on Samosir Island by heading to the Tombs of Tomok, where you can walk through the burial grounds and pick up local stories and legends from your guide. The stone carvings and traditional structures give you insight into Batak culture and history. After spending some time there, you'll make your way to Ambarita Village for a guided tour of the traditional settlement. You'll see the distinctive Batak architecture with its peaked roofs and carved wooden details. Later in the afternoon, there's a traditional dance performance that shows off the local customs and cultural practices. Once that wraps up, you'll head back down to Parapat Harbor and catch the ferry across the lake. From there, it's a drive back to Medan where you'll arrive by evening.

You can leave at any time today. If your flight heads internationally through Jakarta or Bali, book a domestic flight from Medan and allow 4 hours to reach the international airport for your onward connection.
