Can this tour be done as a self drive tour?

This itinerary is a fully guided group tour, not a self-drive. If clients want some independent driving, we can look at pre/post-tour nights so they can self-drive before or after the group tour.

We plan on flying in to Faro (from Ireland) on 9/1/25 and would like to know the name of the hotel so we can book into the same hotel for one extra night.

We typically use Hotel Vila Galé Náutico in Armacao de Pera however this will not be confirmed until closer to your departure date.

I would give this tour 5 stars if only for the tour guides themselves, who were wonderful. They were very knowledgeable and had great personalities. The reason for the 3 stars review is because the location of the hotel and the hotel itself. The WiFi was terrible, the AC was barely working, and the rooms were small but adequate. There were no washcloths which was annoying. We were under the impression that the hotel was on the beach or had a water view. It did not, however the staff was kind enough to find us a room that- if you leaned to the left on the balcony- you could catch a glimpse of the sea. Having a balcony was great, but there was little to no privacy on them. For the food: there was a very good selection of breakfast foods, from eggs to yoghurts, fresh fruit and pastries. The dinner items varied by theme nights and were okay, but not fabulous. The best items we had were the grilled meats, chicken, & fish. They were served in very small portions so you had to go back and ask for more. The waitstaff were courteous & attentive but we felt they were waiting to swoop in and grab the plates the minute you took your last bite. There was free wine and beer which was great! We had never done a guided tour before and found it off-putting to have to wait in a long line for dinner or breakfast depending on what time you went. The elevator(s) needed upgrading and were annoyingly slow. All in all, I gave the hotel 3 stars but would have given the tour 5 stars for the tour guides. I would have also liked to have had another tour thrown in as there was only one full day tour and 2 half day tours on an 8 day Tour that we booked, however it was nice that they alternated the days with a tour, and a free day to explore on your own. It wasn’t our type of vacation since it was in a touristy, dusty beach town so it was basically beach or shopping for souvenirs in Armacao de Pera. That isn’t the fault of the tour itself, but my own inexperience in doing such a tour. But having been told the hotel was a 4 star property was misleading to say the least.Show more
