Zermatt
You'll arrive in Zermatt by train from the Swiss border, making your way into this car-free mountain village that sits right at the base of the Matterhorn. The alpine scenery here is something else, with peaks surrounding you in nearly every direction. Spend the rest of your day walking through the village streets, getting oriented, and soaking in the mountain air. You're staying overnight in Zermatt, so settle into your accommodation and maybe grab dinner at a local restaurant.

- Day 2
Zermatt to St. Moritz
This morning you'll board the Glacier Express for an 8-hour train journey across the Swiss Alps. The train crosses 291 bridges and travels through 196 tunnels as it winds through mountain forests, alpine meadows, and traditional valleys. You'll reach the Oberalp Pass at 2,033 m/6,670 ft, the highest point of the route. Headphone commentary keeps you informed along the way, and the carriage windows offer panoramic views the entire trip. By evening you'll arrive in St. Moritz, the glamorous resort town where you'll spend the night.

Later, you'll head back to the Swiss border by train whenever you're ready, or if you'd like more time in the mountains, you can arrange an extension to stay longer.
