Itinerary
- Day 1
Chinchero to Huchuy Qosqo Trek
Your day starts with a 6am hotel pickup heading to Chinchero, then on to Tauca where the hiking begins. From there you'll trek uphill through mountain terrain with herds of llamas and alpacas around you, climbing to a mountain pass at 4500m/14,765ft. The route follows a restored Inca Trail as you make your way down to Pukamarca, then continues through Leon Punku ravine where you can see what's left of an old Inca bridge. By midday you'll reach Huchuy Qosqo, an archaeological complex sitting at 3600m/11,811ft with views across the Sacred Valley and Vilcanota River below. After exploring the site with a guide, the trail descends to Lamay and you'll be back at your Cusco hotel around 7pm.
