Sacsayhuaman
You'll start early at Sacsayhuaman, the massive Inca temple perched above Cusco. The site spreads across three levels, each one revealing different sections of the temple complex and offering better views as you move higher. Your local guide will walk you through the stonework and explain how the Incas built these structures without mortar. After spending a couple hours here, you'll head to three other archaeological sites in the area. The guide takes you around each one, sharing details about what each site was used for and how they all connect to the broader Inca empire. The terrain involves some walking and climbing, so wear good shoes and bring water. By the end of the day you'll have a solid sense of Inca engineering and sacred sites around Cusco.
