- Day 1
Madrid to Mérida to Évora
This morning you'll leave Madrid heading toward Mérida, where you can walk through the Archaeological Ensemble and see the Roman Theater and Amphitheater from the 1st century. Grab lunch in the historic center, then continue on to Évora in Portugal. The city's known for its whitewashed buildings and Renaissance palaces, plus there's a cathedral worth checking out. You'll have free time to wander the narrow streets, and if you're interested, the Chapel of Bones is available to visit on your own.

- Day 2
Marvão - Castelo de Vide - Tomar - Aljustrel - Fátima
You'll travel through Alentejo's rolling landscapes with stops in Marvão, a walled town set high up with views across the region. From there, head to Castelo de Vide to explore the castle and the medieval Jewish quarter, which has a synagogue museum. After lunch, continue on to the Convent of Christ in Tomar, then swing by Aljustrel to see Lucia's house. You'll arrive in Fátima with time to visit the Sanctuary, and depending on the season, there's a candlelight procession you can watch.

- Day 3
Porto
You'll arrive in Porto around 11:00 a.m., Portugal's second-largest city. Next, take a 50-minute cruise on a traditional Rabelo boat down the Douro River to see the riverside from the water. After that, walk through the Ribeira district with its tight streets, old merchant houses, and small cafés tucked into corners. Then head to your hotel to settle in for the night.

- Day 4
Guimarães - Douro Valley - Coimbra
Start with a walk through Braga, known as Portugal's religious center, and see its historic cathedral. You can ride the world's oldest cable car up to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus for views across the region, then make your way back down using the impressive staircase. Later, get to Guimarães, Portugal's first capital, and check out the Palace of the Dukes. Following lunch in vineyard settings, you'll drive through Douro Valley passing Sabrosa, where Magellan was born. In Pinhão, explore the train station with its traditional tiles, then take a one-hour Douro River cruise (or a scenic drive if traveling November through March). Arrive in Coimbra by evening for dinner.

- Day 5
Batalha - Nazaré - Óbidos - Lisbon
Spend the morning in Coimbra, Portugal's third-largest city, walking its steep streets and seeing the old University. Next, visit the Batalha Monastery, a medieval structure built as a royal mausoleum. After lunch, head to Nazaré, a fishing town and seaside resort where you can take an elevator up to the old part of town for ocean views. Then continue to Óbidos, one of Portugal's most charming towns with white streets covered in flowering vines. You'll arrive in Lisbon around 7:30 p.m.

- Day 6
Lisbon
This morning, take a sightseeing tour through Lisbon's hills and narrow lanes, seeing the iconic Portuguese tiles and how the Atlantic light hits the city. Head to the Belém neighborhood, where Portuguese explorers sailed from in the 1400s. The afternoon is free to check out the Bairro Alto district and its viewpoint, or if you prefer, there's an optional trip to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril available. Return to your hotel from Restauradores Square in the evening.
