  Europamundo 17-Day Tour Review: A Stressful and Disappointing Experience I would strongly advise English-speaking travelers to think carefully before booking this tour. Based on my experience, this was far from the fully guided, well-organized tour I expected. Instead, it often felt like a hop-on, hop-off bus service with hotel accommodation, frequent transportation changes, inconsistent tour leaders, and very little meaningful guidance. I paid for a guided tour because I wanted to learn about the places we visited without having to plan everything myself. Unfortunately, I often felt as though I had been left to figure things out on my own. Different passengers joined and left the group throughout the journey, we repeatedly changed buses, and the tour leaders changed frequently. Sometimes we changed buses once a day, while on other days it happened more than twice. Keeping track of which bus to take, where to go, and when to return became exhausting and stressful. There were also occasions when we were dropped off and expected to take a taxi ourselves, or left waiting for long periods without clear instructions. Communication was consistently poor, and the sheer number of Europamundo buses arriving at the same destinations and hotels at the same time created unnecessary chaos. With nearly 50 passengers on a bus, hotel check-ins became particularly frustrating. They changed hotels not in the original hotel list without letting us know. # Poor communication and organization **Day 1 – Ibis Styles Hotel** We received very little communication from the tour leader. Information about the tour and check-in arrangements was unclear, and we only received a notice from the hotel reception at around 4 p.m. We were not even told how many people were in our tour group. **Day 2 – Ibis Styles Hotel** The tour already felt more like a hop-on, hop-off service with accommodation than a proper guided tour. Different travelers appeared to have different schedules, and we kept changing buses. At times, we were dropped off and told to take a taxi, or had to wait around for extended periods. The promised panoramic city tour was not provided as expected and seemed to be replaced by a hop-on, hop-off arrangement. We had to pay for a taxi to Sagrada Familia. We spent approximately 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Alhambra, while waiting for the bus to come again to pick us up and communication from the tour leader was minimal. To be fair, our guide Mereia was excellent. However, tour leader Carlos frequently gave incorrect information and provided very little useful historical or tourist information. **Day 3 – Praga Hotel** The Wi-Fi at Praga Hotel was extremely slow. Our guide, Carlos, provided very little information about the places we visited. His introductions were sometimes barely two minutes long, with almost no historical context. Passengers traveling to Madrid had to change transportation and handle their own luggage, without clear instructions. We also had difficulty finding the church in Valencia because nobody explained where it was. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 9 p.m, but the promised evening transfer to Plaza Mayor was cancelled. Tour leader Julio said it was too late and that it would not happen the following day either. When I contacted a Europamundo representative, I was simply told to speak to the guide. According to the itinerary advertised on TourRadar, the transfer to Plaza Mayor was included, with dinner provided. Neither happened. We ended up going to bed hungry. This was extremely disappointing, particularly because we had paid for a tour with a published itinerary and included meals. **Day 4 – Praga Hotel** I contacted Europamundo through WhatsApp regarding the missing dinner and missing Plaza Mayor transfer. After midnight, an agent instructed us to change our departure time for the following morning from 9:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. We woke up in the middle of the night to follow these instructions, only for guide Juliana Serenato to arrive at 7:54 a.m. and tell us that our tour actually started at 9:30 a.m. This was an unacceptable communication failure that caused unnecessary stress and disrupted our rest. Thankfully, guides Jose and Hema were excellent. Jose was friendly, humorous, and informative, which showed that a good guided experience is possible. However, the Flamenco show with dinner was another disappointment. We were supposed to have seats close to the stage, but our table, number 24, was in the far-right corner at the back. We purchased the tickets hoping to take close-up photographs and videos, but our seats made that difficult, and people kept walking in and out. The advertised show duration was one hour and 15 minutes, but it lasted only about one hour. Near the end, the server asked whether we wanted coffee, giving the impression that it was included in the meal. We were subsequently charged for it without being informed beforehand. A tip jar was also presented toward the end of the show. We returned to the hotel at approximately 11:40 p.m. I expect tour operators and their suppliers to be transparent about seating, show duration, and additional charges. Customers should not have to discover these details after paying. **Day 5 – Abades Nevada Palace Hotel** Guide Fabrizio was good at storytelling, and Juan was excellent, informative, and engaging. Carlos, who guided the Flamenco portion that evening, was acceptable but offered little information. Luisa did not speak English, which made communication difficult for English-speaking travelers. The small bus smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and the air conditioning was not switched on until we asked. These are basic comfort issues that should not require passengers to complain. # Morocco: Poor accommodation and disappointing meals **Day 6 – Tangier and Asilah** When we arrived in Tangier, nobody from Europamundo was there to explain where we needed to go to have our luggage scanned. We only saw Europamundo staff after exiting the area. We then had to walk a considerable distance under the hot sun while carrying our luggage to reach the bus. Our Tangier guide, Uma, provided limited historical information. Asilah itself was enjoyable, but the Rive Hotel was in terrible condition, and the included buffet dinner was disappointing. **Day 7 – Rabat** Yusof was informative, although his voice was not loud enough for such a large group. Headphones or an audio system would have made the experience much better. The Spanish-speaking guide was humorous and informative. Unfortunately, Uma mostly introduced the names of buildings without explaining their history or significance. The only time she spoke at length, for more than 10 minutes, was during the Argan oil presentation, a sales pitch. We also lost approximately an hour waiting because of a passenger emergency. Emergencies happen, and I understand that they cannot always be avoided. However, the tour operator should communicate clearly with the rest of the group about the situation, the expected delay, and what happens next. Instead, we were left waiting anxiously without knowing what was going on. **Day 8 – Morocco** Guide Abdullah was friendly and informative. However, the second planned horse carriage ride was cancelled, and two unexpected shopping stops selling oils and clothing were added. Both stops took close to three hours of our time. When we questioned the changes, Oumyma argued that many people wanted to shop. That may have been true for some passengers, but shopping should not replace an advertised activity without proper communication or agreement. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 2:20 p.m. instead of the scheduled 1:30 p.m. The lunch buffet ended at 3 p.m, so we had to rush to eat. The horse carriage ride listed in the TourRadar itinerary was not provided. **Day 9 - Boumalne Dades** Finally, a relatively normal day. After so many organizational problems, it was a relief to have a day that went more smoothly. **Day 10 – Erfoud** After I suggested that we needed more information about the places we were visiting, Oumyma improved and spoke more during the tour. I appreciated that she responded to the feedback. But she mostly talked about Islam. Local guide Jin had a very strong accent, which made it difficult for us to understand much of what he said, although the tour itself was good. Hotel Xaluca was unique, but there were many gnats. The lunch at Tizimi Hotel was disappointing, and we had enjoyed better tagine elsewhere. Another shopping stop was added at Macro Fossils Kasbah, taking more time away from sightseeing. Hotel Tizimi was particularly unpleasant. It was dated and dirty, and there were spiders on our bed and in the shower room. The air conditioner was extremely loud, making it difficult to rest. The optional evening excursion was advertised as a typical dinner in a bivouac, but the dinner took place outside the bivouac instead. The vehicle was also a Toyota rather than the advertised Land Rover. These may seem like small details, but when customers pay for a specific experience, the operator should deliver what was promised or explain any changes in advance. Samir, on the other hand, was excellent. He was informative and told many interesting stories. He would have made a very good English-speaking guide throughout the tour. **Day 11 - Fez** The Marinid Tombs listed in the itinerary were not visited. This was another example of the difference between what was advertised and what was actually delivered. **Day 12 - Tangier** Guide Hamid was excellent and informative. Unfortunately, we had to wait an entire hour for the bus to arrive after the local tour. When we reached the hotel, we waited another hour trying to get our room. Multiple Europamundo buses arrived at the same time, resulting in a chaotic check-in process. We were among the last to receive a room, and the process took approximately another hour, including the long wait for the lift. This was clearly a problem with coordination and group management. A tour operator handling so many passengers should have a better arrangement with its hotels to avoid making guests wait for hours after a long day of travel. ## Later days: Some excellent guides, but more avoidable problems **Day 13 - Seville ** Guide Jess was friendly and pleasant. **Day 14** Guide Klada was funny and informative. However, the cathedral excursion was poorly organized. Guide Pila had tickets with the wrong date, apparently for the following week. After waiting approximately 30 minutes, we were asked whether we wanted to cancel or return in two hours. We chose to cancel, only to be told that replacement tickets had been purchased and we could enter immediately. Unfortunately, we had to queue from the beginning again. We lost approximately an hour because someone had failed to check the ticket dates in advance. There was also confusion about access to the cathedral tower. The itinerary stated that we would be able to go up, but Pila told us our tickets did not include tower access. We eventually managed to go up, but the experience was unnecessarily stressful. Although Pila was knowledgeable about the cathedral, the organization of the excursion was a mess. She also left without saying goodbye, and we had to arrange our own taxi back to the hotel. I had asked Europamundo questions about transportations before the tour and received different information. I would appreciate a clear explanation of why the actual arrangements differed from what I had been told. We also did not receive notice of the next day's departure time until almost 8 p.m. **Day 15 - Evora** Guide Teresa was friendly and informative. Guide Jose was acceptable, but while explaining the Roman ruins under the hot sun, he did not really walk around with us and left quickly afterward. When I asked him to recommend a good local restaurant, he simply told me to search for "restaurants in Merida" myself. This gave the impression that he was in a hurry to leave rather than interested in helping travelers. The Chinese-speaking guide was also disappointing. She was not friendly and appeared to sleep through the journey, lying across the seats. She also occupied the seat with the best view by herself. In my opinion, guides should be considerate of passengers, especially when everyone is sharing limited space on a long bus journey, even though she was not our guide. **Day 16 - Lisbon** Local guide Rafaela was friendly and informative, and guide Teresa was also excellent. However, the optional excursion to Sintra required us to take a public bus, something that was not mentioned in the optional tour description. We had to stand during the journey, and there was no warning when the rear door opened, causing it to hit my back. Important transportation arrangements and potential inconveniences should be disclosed in advance so passengers can make informed decisions. # Overall problems with the tour # 1. It is not the fully guided tour you may expect The biggest issue was the lack of consistent, meaningful guidance. Some local guides were excellent, but most tour leaders provided little more than the names of buildings or brief introductions. Tour leaders frequently changed, and there was no reliable continuity throughout the journey. If you expect qualified guides to explain the history, culture, and significance of the places you visit, this tour is not for you. At times, it felt as though we were simply being transported from one destination to another, with passengers expected to work out the details themselves. # 2. Constant bus changes create unnecessary stress We repeatedly changed buses, and different passengers joined and left throughout the day. There were too many people and too many simultaneous arrivals, particularly at hotels. Keeping track of luggage, buses, departure times, and changing groups became exhausting. This felt much more like a hop-on, hop-off bus service with accommodation than a well-coordinated guided tour. It should be advertised as a "partially guided tour" instead of a "fully guided tour". 3. Poor communication and unreliable schedules Departure times changed with little notice, sometimes after midnight. Planned activities were cancelled, replaced, or omitted without adequate explanations. We were often left waiting without knowing what was happening next. The operator needs a reliable communication system, accurate schedules, and clear responsibility for keeping passengers informed. 4. Disappointing hotels and meals in Morocco Several hotels in Morocco were dirty, dated, or poorly maintained. I encountered insects, including a spider on the bed at Hotel Tizimi, and the air conditioning there was extremely loud. Hotel Rive was also very disappointing. Many of the included meals in Morocco were buffet-style and below expectations. Some were poor in quality, and water was not included, meaning we had to pay separately. After long days of travel, passengers should be able to expect reasonable accommodation, hygienic rooms, and acceptable meals. 5. Too many shopping stops and not enough sightseeing Several shopping stops were added, including visits selling oils and clothing that took close to three hours each. Meanwhile, advertised activities such as the horse carriage ride and Marinid Tombs were omitted. Optional excursions also sometimes ran until midnight, followed by early departures the next morning. This left little time for rest and made an already tiring tour even more exhausting. 6. Inconsistent service quality There were genuinely excellent guides on this trip, including Mereia, Jose, Hema, Fabrizio, Juan, Abdullah, Samir, Hamid, Teresa, Klada, and Rafaela. Their friendliness, knowledge, humor, and willingness to engage with passengers made a real difference. However, the overall experience was undermined by inconsistent guiding, poor coordination, inadequate communication, and a lack of accountability. A few excellent guides cannot compensate for systemic organizational problems. ##Final verdict## I chose this tour expecting a convenient, informative, and well-organized way to explore multiple destinations. Instead, I experienced frequent transportation changes, confusing schedules, cancelled or missing itinerary items, disappointing hotels and meals, excessive shopping stops, and very poor communication (especially with their Whatsapp agents on the phone) I understand that travel involves unexpected circumstances and that no tour can run perfectly every day. However, these were not isolated inconveniences. The same problems occurred repeatedly throughout the 16 days, making the overall experience stressful and disappointing. Europamundo needs to improve its group coordination, hotel arrangements, guide consistency, communication, and adherence to advertised itineraries. Optional excursions should accurately describe the transportation and experiences included, and any changes should be communicated clearly and promptly. Included meals and accommodation should meet reasonable standards. Most importantly, customers should not have to chase the tour operator for basic information or repeatedly figure out arrangements on their own. We paid for a guided tour, not a complicated travel puzzle. My recommendation to English-speaking travelers is to research this tour carefully before booking and to manage your expectations. If you value knowledgeable English-speaking guides, consistent communication, comfortable accommodation, and a structured itinerary, I would think twice before choosing this particular tour. I hope Europamundo takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements so future travelers receive the experience they paid for.Show more

  Saw some really AMAZING things that we would have missed if we were doing this trip ourselves. Spain was amazing! The only complaint was that we had been expecting to be able to recharge our phones on the bus (taking MILLIONS of photos!) Our guide was amazing! (Harvey) The things we saw in Morocco were breathtaking! - to see snow on the Atlas Mountains was SO unexpected! The downside was the accommodation. While the Hotels were exceptional, they were so far away from anything, it made life very difficult. I have dietary requirements, which made it impossible to eat in the Hotels, so I needed to shop for myself! Being the only two English-speaking guests also presented difficulties! Portugal was brilliant, especially the return of Harvey!. It would have been great to spend more time here, so will have to return! Thanks SO much for a brilliant holiday. We did need to sleep for a week when we eventually made it home!Show more

  The tour Barcelona, Madrid, Mysterious Morocco and Lisbon is a wonderful trip and a very good value for your money. Overall, the tour is well organized with great tour directors and guides, especially Raul in Morocco. We loved it and I highly recommend Europamundo. Even though the same group of people do not stay with you for the entire duration of the tour, it is an excellent opportunity to meet more people from around the world. We always had English speaking guides even when the English-speaking group was only 4 people.Show more

Starting in Barcelona, the tour offered an exquisite exploration of the main destinations in the south of Spain, immersing us in the region's rich culture, delectable food, captivating attractions, and unique excursions. Our guide, a local expert, provided us with exceptional communication and profound knowledge about the area, enhancing our journey with insightful narratives. Some highlights include the palaces/castles, sea towns, food, iconic sites (such as La Sagrada Familia), architecture that was influenced by different religions over time (Primarily christianity & Islam). Our group in Spain was a vibrant mix of English speaking tourists from around the globe, which was fun. What set this tour apart was the seamless transition to Morocco via ferry. Upon arriving in Morocco, the composition of our group shifted predominantly to Spanish speakers from various countries. However, the consistent provision of English-speaking guides ensured that language barriers were non-existent, allowing for an inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone. In Morocco, we were guided by Souzie, a local whose exceptional knowledge and engaging personality made him unforgettable. He is an excellent guide and can't highly recommend him more. He did an excellent job of blending social interactions, information, and fun into our journey. In terms of sites to see, Morocco has a lot - from Marrakech market, to major cities like Casablanca, and the breathtaking Sahara, truly remarkable. Being guided by Souzie was a privilege that enriched our understanding and appreciation of Morocco's cultural and scenic beauty. Food and accommodations in Morocco were excellent! The linguistic proficiency of all guides throughout our trip was impressive, facilitating clear and effective communication. The itinerary was thoughtfully organized, presenting a logical sequence of destinations and ensuring a comprehensive exploration of each location. With days packed full of activities and sights, there was never a dull moment, yet ample flexibility was provided for those seeking relaxation. All transportation was meticulously arranged, with comfort and convenience as top priorities, showcasing Europamundo's dedication to guest satisfaction. To conclude, I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone interested in exploring the south of Spain and Morocco. The combination of these two regions offers a diverse and engaging experience. This tour is a perfect blend of adventure and cultural immersion, suitable for both seasoned travelers and those embarking on their first international adventure.   Where to start,,firstly I want to say that Aman Gonzales was an amazing guide,pls use himt to teach others. He was always full of information that was explained perfectly clear and in detail. All hotels were okay,but xaluca near Sahara was impractical. Bumpy uneven surface to wheel bags over a long distance and up stairs,at 65/68 this was almost impossible if fellow travellers had not helped. Some breakfasts were a little bleak with old fruit. Loved all the sights we saw but everything's is at a break neck pace,you can't advertise that it's suitable for up to 99 yr Olds and go at that speed. All of our group were totally exhausted and none said they'd do it again. A day of rest in between here and there would if helped.in Morocco Kareem the driver was a good safe driver and a lovely man who we were so happy to meet. There was a difficult first day as we had to wait for another boat,several hours which made people hot and hungry,Hassan did his best to calm the situation,he too is a nice man but we felt the Spanish speaking got a lot more info than we did and sometimes felt like we didn't know where we'd been. On the last day from Seville to Madrid was far too long,we left at 8 a.m. and arrived at the hotel after 9 p.m. the stop at Cordoba was too long 2 hrs would've been plenty. The windmills were a nice sight but there for too long,,we could've got to hotel earlier for more badly needed rest. We shortened our trip as we felt the constant moving would be too much,so glad we did or we'd be writing from a hospital bed. All in all it was ok but after travelling from Australia I think we expected more on our trip of a lifetime.Show more
