Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Funchal
You'll arrive in Funchal and be met by your German-speaking assistant at the airport. From there, it's a transfer to Hotel Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden, where you're settling in for 7 nights. Dinner is taken care of this evening, so after getting to your room, you can head down and relax after your flight.

Funchal City Tour
This morning starts with a guided tour through Funchal. You'll check out the market hall to see exotic flowers and tropical fruits, then wander through the fish hall to see what's available. After strolling the old town's charming streets, head up to the botanical garden on the hill where you get nice views over the bay. Later, there's a wine tasting at Funchal's oldest winery before the afternoon opens up for you to explore on your own.

- Day 3
Machico, Pico do Facho & Ponta São Lourenço Hike
You're driving to Machico, Madeira's oldest village and where early explorers first landed. After visiting the miracle chapel and walking through the village, head up to Pico do Facho at around 350 m for good views. From there, continue to Baia de Abra Bay at the island's easternmost tip to see different vegetation. The main event is a scenic hike along Ponta São Lourenço with azure bays, colorful rock formations, views of the Desertas Islands and Porto Santo. There's an optional snack stop or whale museum visit in Caniçal before returning to the hotel via Santa Cruz.

Cabo Girão, Banana Plantation & Levada Trail
Start at Cabo Girão, Europe's highest cliff at 580 m, where you'll get great views. Move through Ponta do Sol to Madalena do Mar and walk through a banana plantation to learn about the fruit. Head up to Paul da Serra high moor for a scenic hike with gorge views, then follow a relatively new trail past centuries-old laurel forests toward Fanal. This is a truly unique experience. End in Porto Moniz before returning to Funchal via São Vicente and the Encumeada Pass.

Pico das Pedras Nature Reserve & Caldeirao Verde Hike
You're driving to Pico das Pedras nature reserve and hiking to Queimadas at approximately 900 m altitude. Walk through beautiful laurel and laurazeen forests along the Levada do Caldeirao Verde. The trail takes you through several tunnels (flashlights required) to the Caldeirao Verde, where a 50-meter waterfall drops into a pristine basin. It's one of Madeira's most beautiful and varied levada hikes.

Pico Ruivo Summit Hike & Santana
Travel north through the Ribeiro Frio nature reserve to Achada do Teixeira at approximately 1,600 m altitude. Follow a well-maintained paved path to the Pico Ruivo refuge, then climb to Madeira's highest peak at 1,862 m (takes about 20 minutes). Return the same way and rejoin the bus. Later, stop in Santana to see the distinctive triangular thatched-roof houses typical of the region before heading back to the hotel.

Free Day & Farewell Dinner
This day is yours to spend exploring Funchal at your own pace. You can wander around the city, check out shops, grab lunch somewhere local, or just relax. By evening, gather for a special farewell dinner outside the hotel featuring espetadas and other local delicacies.

Departure from Funchal
