Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh
You'll arrive and catch the Airlink bus into Edinburgh city center. After that, spend the afternoon walking through Old Town's narrow, winding streets on your own. Head up to Edinburgh Castle on Castle Hill where you can take in views of the city and sea with an audio guide covering the Scottish Crown Jewels and other highlights. If you've got time left, grab some food at Larder Café or consider the optional whisky tour at the Scotch Whisky Experience.

- Day 2
Edinburgh
Start with the hop-on hop-off bus from St. Andrews Square and explore Edinburgh at your own pace. Visit the Royal Yacht Britannia, a 126-metre state yacht that was decommissioned in 1997 after hosting royal events and Prince Charles and Diana's honeymoon in 1981. You'll tour all 5 decks to see four decades of royal history. Later, check out the Palace of Holyroodhouse at the eastern end of the Royal Mile, the official royal residence in Scotland where parts of the interior open to visitors when the royal family isn't in residence.

Edinburgh
This day is yours to plan. Consider visiting the Scottish National Portrait Gallery or the Royal Botanic Gardens, which was founded in 1670 and now focuses on climate change and biodiversity research. You could also wander through the city's colorful weekly markets for local and regional products, or find a green space for a picnic with street food from one of Edinburgh's many vendors.

- Day 4
Scottish Borders
Leave Edinburgh at 10 am for a day trip to the Border region (April 1 onwards). You'll stop at Scott's View for great views over Tweed Valley, then visit Melrose Abbey and Rosslyn Chapel, the Gothic chapel that inspired Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code' with its unsolved mysteries. Plan to return to Edinburgh by approximately 5 pm.
