Itinerary
- Day 1
Cagliari
You'll arrive at Cagliari Airport, pick up your rental car and drive to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore Sardinia's capital city. Start by walking through Castello district's narrow streets, then check out the 13th-century Cathedral. Head up to Bastione di Saint Remy for panoramic views across the city. If time allows, the Roman Amphitheater and Orto Botanico garden are worth a look. Later in the afternoon, head down to Marina District and walk along Via Roma, then grab lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants.

Cagliari - Villasimius - Cagliari
After breakfast, you'll drive out to Villasimius on the coast. Start at Simius Beach where you can swim in the turquoise water and relax on white sand. From there, head to Porto Giunco for more swimming or snorkeling, and you might spot flamingos in the nearby Notteri pond. Grab lunch at a local trattoria to try some Sardinian dishes. In the afternoon, check out Capo Carbonara, a protected marine area with nice views. If you're interested in going deeper underwater, snorkeling or diving trips are available.

Cagliari - Oristano
After breakfast you'll check out and drive to Oristano on the west coast. Start at Piazza Eleonora d'Arborea to see the statue, then visit the Cathedral with its mix of Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical styles. Walk through to see the frescoes and wooden ceiling inside. Head to Tower of Mariano II next, a 13th-century structure that's one of the few remaining parts of the old city walls. Grab lunch at a trattoria for Sardinian food, then spend the afternoon at Spiaggia di Is Arutas, a unique beach known for quartz sand that looks like rice grains.

Oristano - Alghero

Visit the 16th-century Cathedral and climb the bell tower for city and sea views. Then check out Torre di Porta Terra, an old watchtower with exhibits about the city's history. In the afternoon, drive about 20 kilometers to Neptune's Grotto, a sea cave you can reach by boat from the marina or by walking down the Escala del Cabirol stairs. End your day watching the sunset from Bastioni Marco Polo.

Visit the Museo della Tonnara to learn about the village's tuna fishing history and techniques. Then head to La Pelosa Beach, known for clear shallow water and fine white sand. Spend time swimming or snorkeling here. Grab lunch at a seaside restaurant near the beach and try fresh seafood like spaghetti alle vongole or fritto misto. After lunch, drive back to Alghero.

Start at Porto Cervo Marina, one of the Mediterranean's most luxurious marinas, and walk along the docks to see impressive yachts. Visit Piazzetta di Porto Cervo, the main square with upscale boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Stop by Stella Maris Church, a striking modern structure with whitewashed walls and simple interior design featuring artworks. From there, continue to Baja Sardinia for your overnight stay.

- Day 7
Baja Sardinia - La Maddalena - Baja Sardinia
After breakfast, drive to Palau (about 30 minutes away), which is the gateway to La Maddalena Archipelago. Take the 20-minute ferry ride to La Maddalena, enjoying views of the coastline along the way. Explore the town's streets and visit Piazza Umberto I for coffee and local atmosphere. If you're interested in history, the Museum Archeologico Navale has exhibits about the archipelago's maritime heritage and shipwrecks. Grab lunch at a trattoria with fresh seafood. In the afternoon, head to Spiaggia di Cala Spalmatore, one of the nicest beaches with clear turquoise water and soft sand. Late afternoon, take the ferry back to Palau and return to Baja Sardinia.
