The four national parks (Wilpattu, Hurulu Eco Park, Horton Plains, and Yala) that we visited in Sri Lanka offered excellent wildlife viewing experiences. We ticked off Sri Lanka’s most celebrated animals. leopards and sloth bears within five hours in Wilpattu. Each park has distinctive scenery. Hurulu Eco Park is lush, green, and set at a higher elevation. Wilpattu is stunning, with its natural lakes that are perfect for spotting birdlife. Horton Plains features rolling grasslands dotted with umbrella-shaped trees and hills, along with beautiful waterfalls that attract striking birds and sambar deer. Yala is fantastic for seeing leopards and more. All of these combine to make Sri Lanka an amazing wildlife destination, especially for bird photography.Show more

From the very beginning, when I had a few questions before I made my decision to book this trip, to the end of traveling home, everything was excellent. I felt very safe because we had the ability to be in constant contact with the team if we needed them. The trip itself was just amazing! I added over 200 new life birds to my list! The scenery was spectacular. Our guide was so helpful, knowledgeable, and personable. Each lodge was unique in its own way, from larger ones to quite small ones. The staff at each place were excellent. The food was plentiful and tasty. There were different birds and experiences at each location. I don’t think a single thing could be improved upon. The birdlife on this safari was truly exceptional. easily one of the highlights of the entire experience. At Wilpattu, we were surrounded by an incredible variety of bird species. We spotted pelicans gracefully gliding over the lakes, cormorants drying their wings in the sun, and numerous other waterbirds and forest species that made every moment exciting for bird enthusiasts. Yala offered a completely different but equally impressive birding experience. There, we saw majestic eagles soaring high above, vibrant kingfishers darting near the water, and many other species that added to the richness of the safari. Beyond the birdlife, the wildlife encounters were unforgettable. In Wilpattu, we were lucky enough to see a leopard, along with three adorable leopard cubs. an incredibly rare and special sighting that made the trip even more memorable. Overall, the safari provided a perfect blend of diverse birdlife and thrilling wildlife moments.Show more

We spent two weeks on a bird-focused safari with a highly experienced and excellent guide (Kesara from SkyHaven Tours). From Anawilundawa Sanctuary to Wilpattu, and from Minneriya to Horton Plains, we encountered countless bird species and witnessed some truly impressive wildlife moments. In addition, we visited a tea plantation in Nuwara Eliya, where we tasted pure Ceylon tea, and later enjoyed a few relaxing days on the sandy beaches of Unawatuna. Safety was good throughout the trip—traveling in Sri Lanka is definitely an experience worth having and hopefully repeating.Show more

Sri Lanka is truly one of the most amazing destinations in the world. The weather was perfect, not too hot and everything was lush and green. This itinerary was excellent from start to finish. The wildlife was breathtaking, and I was especially surprised by the abundance of birds we saw. From airport pickup to drop-off, everything was perfectly arranged. the safaris were well organized with skilled drivers, and the hotels were all carefully selected and wonderful. We had plenty of time in each national park to search for birds. Each jeep was equipped with binoculars, and our lovely guide, Wasantha, also had a great pair, which made it possible to observe even distant species clearly, even when we couldn’t capture them in photos. The Sinharaja Rainforest trek was a highlight, we were lucky enough to spot the rare Ceylon blue magpie, even though we couldn’t photograph it. Our safaris weren’t limited to birdwatching; we also saw a wide range of animals, including leopards, sloth bears, elephants, deer, crocodiles, and mongooses. The weeks we spent there were truly magical, and I highly recommend visiting Sri Lanka and SkyHaven Tours!Show more

I wanted to see all the incredible wildlife Sri Lanka has to offer without having to stress about lodgins, transport, or meals. Lahiru took care of everything, and I didn’t have to worry about a thing. My driver and guide, Kesara, was fantastic. He was not only friendly and professional but also incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and birds. If there was a bird he didn’t immediately recognize, he’d quickly identify it using his field guide. Every time I mentioned a specific animal I hoped to see, he managed to find it without fail. Truly impressive. If you value convenience, comfort, and a well-organized experience, I highly recommend Skyhaven Tours. Sure, there might be cheaper options out there, but this was 100% worth it to simply relax and enjoy the journey. The lodging was stunning, the food was delicious, and the wildlife encounters were unforgettable. Huge thanks to Lahiru for organizing such a seamless trip. I had an amazing time in Sri Lanka and came away with so many memories and photos of beautiful, colorful birds!Show more

- For any tour departing before June 21st, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 21st, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with SkyHaven Tours. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
