Are there luggage restrictions for this tour?

As we travel in mini-coaches, luggage space is limited. Each of our guests may bring one piece of main luggage of a standard size of no more than 158cm (when the length, width and height is added together) and weighing no more than 20kg. You may also bring one small carry-on bag per person. If you have more luggage, please make arrangements to store it prior to joining the tour. We are unable to carry extra luggage on the mini-coach.

On average how many in the northern Italy 13 day tour mid sept to early October? What class hotel accommodations can we expect? How much freedom is allowed if we want to do things on our own from time to time or to rest?

Completed Italian indulgence tour late 2017, very expensive for solo traveller & of course the worst hotel rooms when paying a single supplement, why? There's an old saying it's Tuesday it must be Rome, too fast & certainly NOT "Backroads" some hotels disgusting & changed at last minute & not advised same. Our "Tour Leader" was aggressive, impatient & rude, I believe it was his last tour with Backroads, he just did not want to be there. The Driver was great, though had the tour leader in his ear all day. The Bus was too cramped for 18 people & uncomfortable with viewing at times, non existent Backroads needs to invest in better transport, it's supposed to be a "Premium Tour". I am very disappointed & won't travel with Backroads again..... AnnieShow more

We have just completed the back roads tour of Northern Italy. The bus was as tight with space and comfort similar to a Ryan Air/Jetstar economy flight. While there was so much that was wonderful it was let down by cheap hotels/broken fittings/no air con etc. We thought this was a premium tour. It is not. Their definition of 'boutique hotels' is questionable when some of the hotels were a mad house with the large bus tours crowding the lobby/lift/breakfast. My husband and I did our first Back Roads tour this spring. (Italians Indulgence). We cannot stop talking about our trip--it was fantastic!. Stephano Lai was our tour guide and Fabio our driver. Both of these men knew and loved their country. They shared so many unique places and certainly went above and beyond. Stehano was with us constantly sharing his knowledge. Necessary stops for "toilets" would turn into a unique adventure like walking suspension bridge or aquaducts. When his day should have been done he would organize an elective hike to various places in the Italian countryside. Have recently finished an Italy Indulgence Tour with Back-Roads. I chose the company because I did not want to see the countryside from motorways & this company really promoted itself on travelling on the "back roads". I was disappointed in this regard. We did have a couple of days where we weaved our way through the countryside but a lot of the travel was along motorways even on a day when we were meant to "discover the rural roads of the Lombardy.....through quintessential Italian villages".....I couldn't see them through the screens on the motorways!! Our tour guide was knowledgeable but she walked really quickly making it a struggle for even quite fit members of the group to keep up & when she got to a point of interest she would immediately start her explanation of it & be finished by the time the rear guard got there. There were some lovely days but it is quite an expensive tour & did not live up to the name "back-roads"Show more

  My husband must use a CPAP machine at night. Is distilled water readily available for purchase in the locations where we stay?

For tours departing after May 21st, 2026, a minimum payment of $200 is required to confirm your booking with Blue-Roads Touring. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Blue-Roads Touring will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
