Could you please also let me know if there is an additional surcharge for a solo traveller - I do not wish to share a room with other people.

    • Tengri ToursOperatorWritten March 2026

At present, we do not have enough participants confirmed for the tour starting on the 23rd of August 2026, and therefore we are unable to operate the departure on that date.

    Asked on January 28th, 2026

We are a fit and healthy couple aged 67 and 72. We prefer travelling with others in a small group. Which tour would you recommend for a 22 day tour of Mongolia in August/September?

    Age Range
    Group size
    Tour Details
    • Tengri ToursOperatorWritten January 2026

Our groups usually consist of 3–5 people. For a 22-day tour, I would highly recommend a route combining the Gobi Desert and the Reindeer Tribe in the Taiga. It offers the best contrast of landscapes and culture. Please note that visiting the Reindeer Tribe involves several hours of horse riding, so it is ideal if you are comfortable on horseback.

    Lawrence

    Asked on January 18th, 2026

Are bookings really opened everyday of July or are there specific departure days already foreseen?

    Price / Availability
    • Tengri ToursOperatorWritten January 2026

We run departures every day, giving you the freedom to select whichever date suits you. That said, travelling solo means the cost is notably higher because you bear the full group price. To keep things affordable and truly immersive, I'd recommend some flexibility around your departure—perhaps a few days before or after your preferred date—so we can match you with 2–3 like-minded adventurers. This not only makes the journey more cost-effective but also far richer in company and shared experience.

  • K

    Kristin

    Asked on September 2nd, 2025

Wondering when you might have dates and prices for August/September 2026 available?

    Price / Availability
    • Tengri ToursOperatorWritten September 2025

At the moment, our detailed dates and prices for August/September 2026 are not yet published. However, if you decide to book now, you can lock in the current price and secure your spot in advance. This way, you'll be protected from any future price increases. Please let me know if you'd like me to hold a spot for you, or if you'd like more details about the itinerary.

That sounds amazing. Although, I wouldn't be booking until beginning of January. I'm currently doing a tour through tourradar in December, so I want to wait until after then so that I can use my tourrader travel credits.

    Asked on April 3rd, 2025

I am a photographer and I am looking for a good tour that will give me plenty of photo opps. I am also a strong hiker and like nature photography as well. This tour looks to fit that but just verifying and looking for more details to what each days activities incliude? Are there any restrictions for the tour? What is the best time of the year for the tour, given that I am focused on photography? For the horse riding -- what level rider do you need to be and how long are the rides? What else should I know to be better prepared?

    Tour Details

    Travel Support
    • Tengri ToursOperatorWritten April 2025

No horse-riding experience is needed—we'll teach and adjust to your level, ensuring you're comfortable. The rides vary in length but always allow time for photos. As a strong hiker, you'll love the trails leading to incredible viewpoints and hidden gems. Each day is balanced to give you the best mix of activity and photography. The best season depends on your vision—spring brings wildflowers and dramatic skies, autumn glows with golden landscapes, and winter offers moody, snow-covered scenes. No major restrictions, just bring the right gear and an adventurous spirit.

      Colin

      TravelerWritten April 2025

I was thinking of traveling in Sept timeframe. Any special gear needed for this time of year? Do I need warm clothing and rain gear? Do any of the dates this month already have people signed up so I could join a trip will have other people? Are all of the meals provided? Would like more details on the Gurvansaikhan section of the trip and on the horse trekking.

    • Tengri ToursOperatorWritten April 2025

September is a great time to visit! The weather can change a lot—days are usually pleasant, but nights can get quite cold, especially in the Gobi. I'd recommend bringing warm clothes like a jacket, gloves, and a hat. A light rain jacket would also be useful in case of showers. All meals are included during the trip, so you won't have to worry about food. The Gurvansaikhan area is full of amazing sights, like the Khongor Sand Dunes and Yol Valley, where you might still see ice even in September. The horse trekking takes place in the northern Taiga, where you'll visit the reindeer herders.
