Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re truly glad to hear that you enjoyed the trip overall — especially your time in Bhutan and the incredible view of Everest. You’re absolutely right that facilities in Nepal can be quite basic compared to Bhutan or Tibet, and we appreciate your understanding of this. I’m very sorry that the Jinting Hotel didn’t meet expectations. The situation was indeed unusual — since the Friendship Bridge in Gyirong was damaged by floods in July, all travelers have been entering and exiting through the Zhangmu border instead. This has caused an unexpected surge in accommodation demand, and unfortunately, the hotel arrangements were affected. Once again, thank you for choosing to travel with us. It means a lot to know that this journey left such strong impressions — and we’ll make sure to use your comments to further improve our future services.

we are a group of 6-10 friends coming from different countries. If we fly to Kathmandu then fly to Lhasa, what are the visa we need to apply for? Would your company be able to process our visa? 5 are US citizens while 5 are Philippine citizens.

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten November 2025

Under the current policy, you can fly directly from Kathmandu to Lhasa with a Chinese visa issued in your country. A Group China Visa is not a must. If the policy changes in 2026, we can help you apply for a Group China visa.

    • L

      Luke

      TravelerWritten November 2025

We plan to start at Lhasa on Nov 2 or Oct 29. If we go via Kathmandu, should we plan to stay in KTM for a couple of days for the Group China visa? How much would it cost for Great Tibet to request for it?

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten November 2025

If you need to apply for a China Group Visa, it usually takes three working days, and their working hours are from 9:00 to 11:00 am. You need to apply for it yourself in Kathmandu, which costs about USD175 per person for US citizens and USD110 per person for Philippine citizens. You can also entrust a local Nepal operator to help, which costs an extra service fee of USD15-35 per person. If you prefer, we can recommend a local operator. We'll provide documents for the Group China Visa application if you book the tour with us.

Would you be able to help us secure the visa for Tibet. How many days should we arrive early in Kathmandu if we want to take Oct 31,2026 tour?

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten November 2025

If you are required to apply for a China Group Visa, I suggest you arrive in Kathmandu on 26 October 2026. You can apply for the visa on 27th and obtain it on 29th. There's a direct flight to Lhasa departing on 30th based on the current schedule. We can open the tour for you departing on 30th. If you don't need a group visa, you can arrive in Kathmandu on 29th.

can we get a China visa while in the US and be able to get to Kathmandu on Oct 30th, Fly to Lhasa on Oct 31st using the individual China visa?

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten December 2025

You can apply for the China Visa at the nearby Chineses embassy. During your China Visa application, if Chinese embassies request more details of your tour, we are happy and capable of providing you with the supporting docs for you to apply for China visa, like an invitation letter and itinerary. Please do not mention Tibet during your China Visa application. After you obtain the China visa, we can apply for the Tibet Travel Permit for you with the copy of your passport and China visa. Then you can fly to Tibet from Kathmandu.

just to recap, we can apply for Chinese visa in the US presenting your invitation and itinerary? Not mention Tibet. And you can work on our Tibet and Nepal visa. Will these visa be included in the tour or addition? We are looking to take the 13-day Nepal Tibet Bhutan tour with expected arrival in Lhasa on Oct 31st. We'll have to purchase our flights from US to Kathmandu then Kathmandu to Lhasa. Do you advice that we stay overnight in Kathmandu? How much would be our deposit and sheduled payment of balance?

May I move the itinerary in Kathmandu on Day 11 and 12 to Oct 30, 31 and Nov 2 while waiting for Chinese Group Visa?

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten December 2025

Yes, the tour includes the Tibet visa and the Bhutan visa. Nepal visa is an arrival visa, and you can apply for it at the airport. Yes, you can stay one night in Kathmandu. I recommend you apply for the China Visa in the US. Because the China Group Visa needs 4 travelers to apply for it together, and you need to stay about 4 working days in Kathmandu. We can find other 2 Nepali to help you apply, but it needs the service and application fees. Yes, you can visit Kathmandu first and wait for the China Group Visa.

      Luke

      TravelerWritten December 2025

If my flight is arriving in Lhasa on Oct 31st, how long before should we apply for China Visa? Where in mainland china should I book temp to show in my China application? Should we apply for China visa before we book this tour?

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten December 2025

At least one month before you fly to China. I suggest applying two months in advance. It's up to you. Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, etc, are all acceptable options. You can apply for a Chinese visa either before or after booking the tour.

If we arrive Nov 2 in KTM, would you be able to help us process the China Group visa as required in Tibet? Will Nov 5 be a good time to get the visa and book our trip?

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten December 2025

If the tour starts on 5 November, I suggest you arrive in Kathmandu on 1st November, and apply for the China Group Visa on 2 November. The working hour is 9:00-11:00 am. If you arrive in Kathmandu around 5:00 am on 2 November, you can apply for the visa that day. We can help you process the visa application.

    • L

      Luke

      TravelerWritten December 2025

How much is china group visa processing? When I book this tour, should I include this as additional service? Does this tour include other visa processing - Nepal multi entry and Tibet?

    • Great Tibet TourOperatorWritten December 2025

You can pay the Group Visa fee and service fee directly to our Nepal operator. I'll check the price and get back to you. The 13-day tour price includes the Bhutan visa and Tibet Permit. A Nepal visa is an arrival visa, and you can apply for it at the Nepal border.
