Under the current policy, you can fly directly from Kathmandu to Lhasa with a Chinese visa issued in your country. A Group China Visa is not a must. If the policy changes in 2026, we can help you apply for a Group China visa.

We can offer private tours in India. May I know how many days of the tour you prefer? For the 13 Days Classic Tibet Nepal Bhutan Tour, we currently don't have a departure date on 25 September 2026, but we can open one for you, which needs further confirmation.

1. Yes. You can take a train from Chengdu to Lhasa. 2. Yes. We can help you book a train ticket from Chengdu to Lhasa. The direct train departs on odd-numbered dates in October. 3. If you travel alone, there's a single supplement. 4. This group tour is based on three people. We can open one for you, which needs further confirmation. Alternatively, if we fail to recruit enough tourists, we can arrange a private tour for you, and if you agree, we can confirm the tour for you now.

What is the difference on this tour between the 3 star and 4 star accommodation (ie. Lhasa)? Would the group be at different hotels, or differing room levels within the same hotel?

Usually, we arrange the 3*: Gang-Gyan Hotel Lhasa or similar class; and 4*: Thangka Hotel or similar in Lhasa. Usually, they are different 3* and 4* hotels.

Is it already possible to go to tibet? I would like to know additional costs of flights, additional costs of visa, additional costs of single room

The cost of the Kathmandu to Pora flight is around USD300p.p. The Nepali visa is not included as it is a visa on arrival. The cost is around USD30p.p. The best month is September and October. We have confirmed group in October and the related single supplement is USD560.

I’m very sorry that the Jinting Hotel didn’t meet expectations. The situation was indeed unusual — since the Friendship Bridge in Gyirong was damaged by floods in July, all travelers have been entering and exiting through the Zhangmu border instead. This has caused an unexpected surge in accommodation demand, and unfortunately, the hotel arrangements were affected. Once again, thank you for choosing to travel with us. It means a lot to know that this journey left such strong impressions — and we’ll make sure to use your comments to further improve our future services.

So, I just got back from this trip, and it was truly an experience. Yamdrok Lake was stunning, serene, and had unreal turquoise water. Watching the sunrise at Everest Base Camp was a major moment and definitely a highlight. Durbar Square in Kathmandu was vibrant, with many temples and activities to soak in. The hike to Tiger’s Nest in Bhutan was challenging, but the view from the top was worthwhile. The guides were excellent, always ready with information and quick to assist. The hotels were comfortable, the food was delicious, and the trip ran smoothly overall. I had a couple of minor issues, but the team resolved them quickly. I’d say it was worth every penny.Show more

  If you need to apply for a China Group Visa, it usually takes three working days, and their working hours are from 9:00 to 11:00 am. You need to apply for it yourself in Kathmandu, which costs about USD175 per person for US citizens and USD110 per person for Philippine citizens. You can also entrust a local Nepal operator to help, which costs an extra service fee of USD15-35 per person. If you prefer, we can recommend a local operator. We'll provide documents for the Group China Visa application if you book the tour with us.

  You can apply for the China Visa at the nearby Chineses embassy. During your China Visa application, if Chinese embassies request more details of your tour, we are happy and capable of providing you with the supporting docs for you to apply for China visa, like an invitation letter and itinerary. Please do not mention Tibet during your China Visa application. After you obtain the China visa, we can apply for the Tibet Travel Permit for you with the copy of your passport and China visa. Then you can fly to Tibet from Kathmandu.

We can find other 2 Nepali to help you apply, but it needs the service and application fees. Yes, you can visit Kathmandu first and wait for the China Group Visa.

Visa
- Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
- Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
Payment information
- For any tour departing before July 14th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after July 14th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Great Tibet Tour. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Great Tibet Tour will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Great Tibet Tour" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- Your money is safe with TourRadar, as we only pay the tour operator after your tour has departed.
- TourRadar is an authorized Agent of Great Tibet Tour. Please familiarize yourself with the Great Tibet Tour payment, cancellation and refund conditions.
