Itinerary
- Day 1
Giza - Memphis - Saqqara
Start early and head to the Pyramids of Giza where you'll see the Pyramid of Khufu up close. From there, walk over to the Sphinx and spend time taking in the scale of it all. After that, you're driving to Memphis and Saqqara to check out the tombs and temples scattered across the sites. It's a full day covering some serious ancient history, so bring water and wear comfortable shoes for all the walking around these monuments.

Alexandria
Your private guide picks you up for an Alexandria day focused on the city's layered past. Start at the Citadel of Qaitbay on the waterfront, then move on to Pompey's Column which rises up from the streets downtown. The Library of Alexandria is next, followed by the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa where you'll see how different cultures mixed in burial practices. End the afternoon at the Roman Theatre. You'll cover a lot of ground, so plan for breaks between stops.

- Day 3
Fayoum Oasis - Wadi El Rayan
Drive out to Fayoum Oasis for the day and head straight to Wadi El Rayan waterfalls. The contrast between the water and surrounding desert landscape is sharp and worth the trip. Later, your guide can take you to spots where fossilized whale remains have been found in the rocks, which is pretty unusual given you're nowhere near the ocean now. Spend some quiet time just walking around the oasis before heading back to the city as the sun gets lower.

Cairo - Grand Egyptian Museum - Coptic Cairo
On your last day, start at the Grand Egyptian Museum where you could spend hours looking at artifacts. The collection is extensive, so decide beforehand what sections matter most to you. After that, head to the Citadel for views across Cairo from up high. Then finish in Coptic Cairo visiting the churches and Christian sites in that neighborhood. It's a good way to see how Egypt's history includes different religions and periods all layered on top of each other before you leave.
