Pickup was seamless, the accommodations were lovely, no issues with drinking water or food, and drop off had no difficulties. There is only one airport, and make sure to watch the signage because it can be a little confusing. Very good 5 day tour of Rapa Nui with fascinating excursions by van of some archaeological sites all over the island, and a well situated, pleasant stay at Hotel Taha Tai. The hotel receptionist greeted us with 2 free drinks (non alcohol) at their restaurant, which includes a fabulous daily full breakfast buffet. We really enjoyed walking along the scenic shoreline route into Hanga Roa every day to explore the charming town, three ahu platforms (with moai), and two mercados artesania. Local tour company Mahinatur employees were organized, competent and friendly with a lovely flower lei greeting at their small airport, and also a farewell moai necklace upon departure. Our tour guide Luis had the challenging job of lecturing about their extensive history and culture in both English and Spanish. Only recommendation for a better tour would be information that the cave tour Ana Te Pahu is a long walk on rocky, dirt roads, plus quite dark in the cave. Small flashlights for the tourists would have been helpful. Internal flights to/from Easter Island are NOT included, we can certainly help you to book these if you need us to. In order to get a more convenient rate, you could visit LATAM website in Spanish. Tapati Rapa Nui will take place from Jan 31 to Feb 12; this Festival is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich celebrations in Easter Island. Hotels and flights are almost all fully booked on those dates.

The official currency in Easter Island is the Chilean peso. US dollar and euro are also accepted. Most establishments have card payment systems. It is advisable to take some cash (100-150 U$D) for small purchases, taxi or lunch at Anakena beach. You can exchange money at two banks: Banco Estado and Banco Santander in the urban center.
