- Day 1
Paro to Thimphu
You'll land at Paro International Airport where your guide greets you with a traditional white Khadar scarf. The drive to Thimphu takes about 1.5 hours, and you'll stop at Tachogang Lhakhang temple along the way. After checking into your hotel, spend the afternoon wandering Thimphu's charming streets and checking out local markets at your own pace. If you have time before sunset, head to Tashicho Dzong fortress (it opens after 5 PM on working days).

- Day 2
Thimphu
Today you'll explore Bhutan's capital, famous for having no traffic lights despite its mix of tradition and modernity. Start at Buddha Dorjenma Statue at Buddha Point for panoramic valley views, then visit Simply Bhutan museum to learn about local traditions. Next, head to Changangkha Lhakhang, a 13th-14th century temple with great city views. You can spot Bhutan's national animal at the Royal Takin Preserve, and watch artisans at the Institute of Zorig Chusum creating traditional crafts. Stop by the Royal Textile Academy and finish your day at the vibrant Centenary Farmers Market.

- Day 3
Thimphu to Punakha
After breakfast, you'll drive for two hours to Punakha via Dochula Pass (weather allowing, you'll see 180-degree views of snow-capped Himalayas and 108 chortens). Stop at Royal Botanical Park in Lamperi, which has diverse ecosystems and over 220 bird species. Then hike through villages and rice fields to reach Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple. Explore Punakha Dzong fortress where two rivers meet, and cross the impressive Punakha Suspension Bridge to browse local shops and see village life.

Punakha to Trongsa
After breakfast, you'll drive 134.4 km to Trongsa via Wangdue Phodrang, passing through rich forests, scenic valleys, charming villages, and traditional monasteries. Visit Chendebji Chorten, a sacred structure built in Nepali style. Then explore Trongsa Dzong, Bhutan's largest fortress set dramatically above a deep gorge and key to unifying the nation. Stop by Ta Dzong (Royal Heritage Museum), originally a watchtower built in 1652, now showing royal artifacts and Buddhist art.

Paro

Experienced hikers can reach it in two hours, but most people take a full day for the trek. If time allows, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most sacred temples, built by King Songtsen Gampo to help spread Buddhism.

Haa Valley Excursion
You'll start early with a 2-3 hour scenic drive to Haa Valley, a peaceful and culturally rich region. Spot Dzongdrakha Monastery with its four sacred shrines, often mistaken for Taktshang. Visit Chele La Pass at 3,988 meters, Bhutan's highest motorable road, offering mountain views and prayer flags; on clear days you'll catch a glimpse of sacred Mt. Jomolhari. Explore Haa Valley's lush landscapes and charming villages with historic sites like Haa Dzong, Lhakhang Karpo, and Lhakhang Nagpo. Consider a hike to cliffside Kila Gompa Nunnery, home to around 100 nuns. Return to Paro for dinner.
