On Day 5, at the end of your excursion, you will be transferred to your hotel in Porto around 12pm. During a standard 1-hour boat tour in the Douro Valley—which typically departs from the riverside town of Pinhão—you will cruise a peaceful stretch of the river in the heart of the UNESCO-listed region. Because it is a 1-hour out-and-back or short loop trip, the focus is entirely on the immediate, dramatic scenery surrounding the riverbanks rather than long-distance travel This is a a fully organized package which means your days are filled and set for you however, if you wish to do other reactivities during your time at leisure in the evening, you can most definitely book these on your own. Yes, airport transfers are indeed included only on the arrival and tour ends dates.

Like your 8 day "Charming Portugal" tour. From Lisbon we would like to tour Costa del Oro, Spain ending in Madrid. Do you have a tour that covers that part of Spain or what could you recommend? Our dates are flexible and could be anytime in May/2027.

Yes, to answer your question, that would be the correct price and when booking in a single room, you will have your own private space. We do not offer to merge 2 solo travelers together anyway.

How many hotels are part of this tour? Do any of them have outdoor pools? Also we all have valid US passports that expire many years from now - any other documents needed to travel to Portugal? What is the recommended amount of time to arrive at the Lisbon airport before a flight to return to the US?

At the moment, you should not need any additional documents beyond your standard travel documents. We always recommend double-checking closer to departure with your airline and official government sites, as entry requirements can change. All airlines do recommend arriving at the airport about 3 hours before your international flight departure. For your convenience, airport pick-up and drop-off are included in this adventure. Once your flights are booked, you can simply share your flight details with us and we will coordinate all the transfers for you.

There will not be a boat tour in Aveiro however, you will experience a traditional rabelo boat tour on the Douro River before heading to a winery for a lunch and wine tasting with entertainment.

Excellent itinerary! Appreciate all of the different cities and sites that were covered. However, was not aware that this was a big bus tour with 47 people. I would never have booked if I had known. With this kind of tour, people need to be aware that there is walking and steps (moderate activity). Our half days were full days because people could not keep up and we spent extra time waiting to make sure everyone is accounted for. Therefore, our evenings that were suppose to be free time to explore were unfortunately cut short. Also, with this number of people, more than one tour guide should be assigned. When issues came up, the whole group suffered, waiting to have a single persons conflict addressed.Show more
