  We did VPT tour of Northern Spain in2023, it was fabulous…this was not it! It felt like a disorganized hop on hop off...
  We did VPT tour of Northern Spain in2023, it was fabulous…this was not it! It felt like a disorganized hop on hop off tour. Only had a guide for the first 6 days ( including 3 nights in Lisbon then 2 single nights on the way to Torremolinos for 3 nights, on our own)then were cramped into a 8 seater van with 8 people…no room for luggage or people. Complained bitterly and the next day two people were moved to another van and they were going to Fez( which we were told a month ago it was taken off our itinerary). The driver talked very little and dropped us off at hotels( but he was a good driver in the rain). The ferry didn’t take us until 5:00( because to tickets were purchased for the group coming from Fez) and we had to be out of the hotel at 12. Didn’t get to our next hotel until 9pm and had to go to get food with our luggage, because they were about to stop service. Our last driver was kind and helpful. We will ask a lot more questions about our next “guided” tour, to avoid a, basically, independent tour in a cramped van, without a guide! So disappointed and so different from our 2023 tour with VPT.Show more

Regarding the organization of the tour, we would like to clarify certain operational aspects. As stated in our General Conditions, when a group consists of fewer than 12 passengers, the service is operated with a driver who performs the role of driver/guide. In all cases, the included sightseeing visits are maintained with an official local guide in each destination where such services are предусмотрed. We understand that this format may differ from a fully escorted tour with a dedicated tour leader throughout the entire itinerary, and we regret that it did not meet your expectations. In addition, some of our programs are structured as a combination of linked tours. This means that at certain points in the itinerary, some passengers may join or leave the tour, and therefore the group composition may vary throughout the journey. We understand that, if this dynamic is not clearly perceived, it may create a sense of lack of continuity. Regarding Fez, it is correct that this destination has been removed from the regular programming of certain itineraries. However, for specific departures and due to operational reasons, the previous routing including Fez has occasionally been maintained, which may have caused confusion in the information received. We also regret the inconvenience related to the vehicle used, the ferry logistics, waiting times, and the late arrival at the next hotel. We fully understand how these situations can affect the overall travel experience. We appreciate that, despite everything, you highlighted the professionalism and helpfulness of the last driver, as well as the safe driving under adverse weather conditions. As a gesture of goodwill and with the hope of regaining your confidence, we would like to offer you a 10% discount on your next trip with VPT, applicable to any of our scheduled tours.   The tour of Spain and Portugal was better organised but the Morocco part was disappointing. The local guide in Fez refused to speak English and asked another tourist to translate him. He spent half of the day taking the group to different shops and forcing them to buy products on a lot higher prices than they are being sold in the market. There was almost negligible time to show any historical places.Show more

  Some of the tour operators were quite good but our overarching disappointment was that we were the only 2 English speaking people on the trip and we felt that in parts we were left with very little commentary compared to our other Spanish speaking tourists on the same tour. In fact, we actually made our concerns known to one tour guide when, for whatever reason, it became blatantly obvious that we were getting a markedly shorter explanation of some sites than the Spanish speakers. The hotels i some parts, especially Morocco, were not good. In one very large hotel we asked to move twice as the air-conditioner unit was not working in either room. The staff at that hotel were very bad. They actually lied in some cases to try and make our go away. Where was the supposed 5 star hotel? The food in some hotels was not good. The small bus used in Morocco was very bad compared to the comfort of the bigger buses, especially over the country roads leading back to Tangier.Show more

Regarding the language issue during the tour, we completely understand your concern about receiving less information in English. Our goal is always to ensure that all travelers enjoy a full and enriching experience, regardless of language. We regret that at certain times the communication may not have been balanced. We have already shared your comments with our local operators and guides to reinforce the attention given to English-speaking travelers and ensure more equal explanations in future tours. As for the hotels in Morocco, we understand your disappointment with some of the accommodations. However, it is important to keep in mind that hotel standards and star ratings in African countries, such as Morocco, differ significantly from those in Europe. Even when a property is locally rated as “five stars,” the level of infrastructure, maintenance, or service may not correspond exactly to European expectations. Nevertheless, we sincerely regret the issues you experienced with the air conditioning and the staff, and we have reported your case to our local partner so they can follow up with the hotel and take appropriate action. Concerning transportation, we understand that the minibus used in some rural areas of Morocco may have felt less comfortable than the larger coaches used in other parts of the trip. This is mainly due to the road conditions and logistical constraints in certain regions, where larger vehicles cannot easily access. However, we will review this matter with our local provider to assess possible improvements. We truly regret that these aspects affected your overall impression of the trip. We do, however, appreciate that you mentioned the good work of some of the tour operators, which shows that many elements of the service met expectations. We hope that, despite the inconveniences mentioned, you were still able to enjoy the cultural, scenic, and human richness of Morocco — a destination with its own unique identity, quite different from European standards, precisely because of its authenticity and character.   Our tour guides in Spain and Portugal ( Patricia and Maria ) were amazing and super nice . Tried to make us feel comfortable all the time. Professional and informative. Hotels were mediocre and food was not good. On the other, the guide in Morocco ( Nail) was extremely bad, unprofessional, rude and giving wrong infos all the time! Never made sure everybody hears him.. walked quickly when we had people with difficulty walking and he never cared if they heard him or if they were able to catch up! We politely asked him to say the same info in Spanish and Arabic cuz maybe he got carried away with Spanish but he just gave us his back and walked away!!Being Arab and Muslim I know many infos he gave were made up and false which was bad cuz he was explaining to clueless travellers who are not local. It was about the ruling family, about people in power and how they got there and how they own everything sometimes in corrupt ways. About a never heard before saudi prince ( ashmawi) and how saudi royals are related to Moroccan ones cuz they are descendants of prophet? I’m saudi and i know they never claimed that, it’s all fake info. About how Palestinians are faking their own struggles and Israelis being the best cuz they donated tomato fields to Morocco??!! A minister who owns all gas stations and about a colleague guide who got super rich with hotel chains through shady business? I don’t think a guide should give his own delusions or personal opinions about things nor talk bad about his country. When confronted he said he was the best in Morocco and he’s been doing it for years ? he almost attacked me physically if it was not for my brother protecting me and started yelling and shouting calling us trouble makers and all kinds of things I’ve been all over the world, doing so many tours but I’ve never seen someone as bad nor ill-mannered!! Even by the end of the tour when I went to thank him and the driver he literally gave me his back! I think a corrective action needs to be taken and also he should never be a guide for your tours againShow more

  Overall, we had a great trip with wonderful guides. The communication prior to departure (or even the night before many city tours) could have been much better. There were attractions that required a reservation that we missed out on because we were told that day. I asked several times in advance for additional info regarding excursions and was told the guides would provide upon departure. We missed seeing both the cathedral in Seville and the Alcazar Walls because the line without an online ticket was hours longs. The majority of hotels were nice. The Farah in Casablanca was a complete dump. The room smelled like cigarettes (ashtray in room), the carpet was filthy, and there were items missing or damaged throughout the room. The process for check-in throughout Morocco was not organized. Other tours groups were able to walk in a get keys immediately because their guides had provided info ahead of time. For every Moroccan hotel we checked into, we were told to complete a form. Tour Radar has our passport number and names. If other tours completed this check in process prior to arrival, why wasn't ours? The buses in Morocco were uncomfortable. The buses in Spain/Portugal were better and had wifi/usb chargers. Our guides Andriana, Patricia, Nail, Fredrico were all very knowledgeable and fun. Andriana seemed to dislike English speakers. It showed on her face the difference between Spanish vs English speakers. While in Morocco, we were told NOT to buy anything during our free time in Marrakhech because the souks in Fes would be so much better. However, in Fes, we were not given any freetime to buy anything other than the shops we were lead to. Clearly, the tour gets a commission. The shops we were permitted to buy things from, felt like the prices were hiked up. Example, I wanted a Moroccan rug and a leather bag but didn't want to buy it from the one and only shop we were taken to. I had to leave lunch with the tour in order to buy spices. I was very disappointed to have bought most of my souvenirs from a gas station (double the price) the last day of the tour because there was not much free time. If you have ideas of seeing spice souks as advertised, you'll be very disappointed. I recommend this tour to those who can handle a very fast paced vacation. You spend a LOT of time on a bus driving city to city. You eat dinner late and have to be up early for breakfast. We plan to take a trip to Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos/Thailand in 2024. I hope this feedback helps Tour Radar improve.Show more
