You'll arrive in Urumqi and head to your hotel to check in with your passport. If you need a ride from the airport, that can be arranged for an extra fee, so let your guide know ahead of time.

Urumqi
The guided city tour kicks off at 9:30am. You'll start at Xinjiang Museum to learn about the region's history and the ancient Silk Road trade routes. From there, walk up Red Hill for views over the city, then see Hongguangshan Big Buddha Statue before finishing at Erdaoqiao International Bazaar to shop and wander through the stalls.

Urumqi to Turpan
Head out on a 1-hour bullet train or by vehicle to Turpan. Once there, a guided exploration takes you through the ancient cities of Gaochang and Jiaohe, then to Bezklik Grottoes. You'll also check out Sugong Minaret and learn how the Karez Irrigation System works, an engineering feat that's been crucial to the region.

Turpan to Kashgar
The day is yours to use as you'd like. If you're interested, optional visits to Turpan Bazaar and Turpan Museum can be arranged. That evening, you'll board a 14-hour hard sleeper train heading to Kashgar, so plan to get some rest on the journey.

Kashgar
After arriving in Kashgar, a full-day guided tour begins at Apa Hoja Mausoleum, which shows off impressive Uyghur architecture with blue tiles, domes, and a minaret. Then walk through the old town to see traditional houses, shops, workshops, bakeries, and tea houses. You'll also visit the historic Id Ghar Mosque. If your visit falls on a Sunday, the Animal Bazaar (now located near the airport) is on the itinerary.

Kashgar
