  I am looking into your Oz Intro tour for August 2026 and have a few questions regarding logistics, accommodation, and the itinerary. I will be arriving in Sydney on Sunday, August 23rd. Since the tour officially departs on the 26th, how does the booking work for those initial days? Should I book my own accommodation in Sydney for August 23rd–25th and then move to your designated meeting point on the 26th, or do you offer add-on nights at the tour's starting hostel? Also, is a wildlife stop or an opportunity to see kangaroos included anywhere along the itinerary?

    If you arrive early, you can book 3 extra nights in the same accommodation via your Manage My Booking page once you are booked, or you can book somewhere independently and meet at the hostel on day one, it's completely up to you!
    
    There will definitely be plenty of opportunities to see kangaroos, but just bare in mind that they are wild animals, so it cannot be guaranteed. However as the 10 day finishes in Brisbane, to ensure you get to see some local wildlife you could take a trip to Australia Zoo after the tour has ended!

    Since the tour runs from August 26th to September 4th, does it officially end in the morning on Friday, September 4th? I ask because I have a flight departing from Brisbane on Saturday morning (Sept 5th), so I want to make sure the timing aligns. (If it ends on the 4th, I assume I can just book that extra night in Brisbane on my own).
    
    Also, is this tour departure date guaranteed once I place my booking?

    Yes, that is correct, the last morning is the 4th and then everyone can go their separate ways from here, so if want to book one extra night at the hostel, your Group Leader can book this for you while you are on the trip, so you don't have to move rooms!
    
    Yes the Group is guaranteed, however there is a small risk that if a number of people cancel their trips we may need to move your booking, but this is highly unlikely, and we will reach out to you before any decisions are made on this.

    Regarding the group size: I understand it's highly unlikely, but what exactly happens if people cancel and the trip cannot go ahead? I ask because my dates are completely fixed. I can only travel during those exact days and cannot shift the trip earlier or later, as I won't even be in Australia outside of that window.
    
    If the absolute worst-case scenario happens and the trip is cancelled, what are my options?

    We already have a few booked on to this start date and the trip is due to run as planned. In the very unlikely event that we would cancel a trip due to low numbers we would work out a fair solution to ensure minimal change on the travellers end.

    How does it work if I book this tour and it gets cancelled due to a low number of participants? I won't be able to reschedule for a future date since I will only be in Australia for that specific timeframe. Is a 100% refund guaranteed in that scenario?

    Also, I noticed that when checking availability for the tour running from August 26th to September 4th, it is explicitly labeled as a "Guaranteed departure".
    
    My understanding of this term is that the tour is 100% confirmed to run regardless of final participant numbers. Could you please clarify if that is the case for these specific dates, or if there is still a possibility of cancellation?

    This start date is indeed still running as planned!
    
    If for any reason we need cancel or amend your booking would send you over all the options which would include transfering to a different date, different tour or if refund if applicable.

  I see the recommendation is to arrive on the start day. Would landing at 10pm be too late? How long is the trip from the airport to the hostel and will there be someone available to connect with them if they arrived at that time?

    On Day 1 of the trip, there are no planned activities, so they can choose to arrive at any time. The group meets around 7pm for a welcome dinner, so we recommend arriving before then if possible. If arriving later that evening that's no problem - they'll still be able to check-in to the hostel and meet their Group Leader. The airport train operates until after midnight and it's an easy journey to the hostel. Ubers are always readily available if they prefer to share a taxi instead. Alternatively, if they'd prefer to arrive the evening before their tour starts, we can organise an extra night at the accommodation for them.

    Our tours are for over 18's only. The majority of travellers that join us in Australia are aged 18 to mid 20s, but we regularly have people in their late 20s and 30s travel with us and have an incredible time too! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy bonding with people of all backgrounds, you'll fit in perfectly!

    Our tour is based on multi-share accommodation throughout (mixed dorm rooms) so I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to accommodate you in triple share. Would you be happy sharing with others too?

    There's no difference between the trips priced at £649 and £849; the itinerary is still exactly the same. Some upcoming dates are on sale right now which is why you'll see some dates heavily discounted - so if you are flexible with your travel dates you can bag a sale price which means more spending money for cocktails hehe!

  I notice this trip is capped at 35 but the tour operator goes to 55? I'm 40, (a very young 40) would this rule me out?

    It's always a good time to go backpacking in Australia! It's generally quite hot in most parts of the country for the majority of the year except for the southern half of Australia during winter (June, July & August). But because Australia is such a big country when it's cold down south most people will head north and follow the sun! May is the end of autumn in Australia, and that means cooler temperatures in some places but still an excellent time to travel!
