I'm interested in booking this tour, but I noticed that the age range is listed as 18–45. I am 57 years old. Would I still be able to join the tour, and can I book it? Also, what time does the tour finish on Friday, September 18th? I need to book my return flight to Sweden that day.

This is a general guideline due to the hostel dorm accommodation. We have people of all ages join our tours. This tour returns around 5PM on the last day. We generally advise not to have any onward travel for up to 3 hours in the even of any unexpected delays.

I note that the age range is up to age 45, I had anticipated travelling with my son (29) and I am 68. Would this be a strenuous trip that the age limit has been given?

So the age range is just as you were looking to book onto Haggis Adventures which only has dorm room availability. If you are are fine with the dorm room then age is not an issue, as the trip is not strenuous or physically demanding at all. Alternatively, we have the same tour with different room availability available through our sister company, Highland Explorer Tours.

For the Isle of Skye or Highland Fling tours - do the b and b have private baths or shared baths?

The B&B accommodation has a private bathroom with each room where the dorm, hostel accommodation may be shared.

I completely missed the Jacobite Steam Train (summer only, reserve at the time of booking) notice. Is it still possible to secure two tickets?

On this tour, there is no option for the steam train but we would be taking the journey on the Scotrail train between Fort William and Mallaig.

What are the dates on Oct ? We only in UK for over 2 weeks

We have the 5th, 12th and 19th October for the 5 day tour.

Can you accommodate a mother and her two kids aged 17 and 18 on this trip?

There was enough time to visit each place. I (and others agreed) would have prefered 30 minutes more at the Highland Folk Museum rather than the extra 20 minutes after the visit of the Blair Atholl Distillerie (it would have been nice to delay the visit of the distillerie a little). The possibility to have accommodation in a hostel as a Haggis traveller or in a hotel/B&B as a Highland Explorer traveller was great. I would definitely recommend this trip.Show more

The tour content was very good and Tiegan, the tour guide was great. Her knowledge and energy are exactly how a guide should be. My issue is with the. Oban accommodation and the complete lack of interest from the office. In summary, because the office know the details and haven’t even bothered to respond, the Oban hostel is above a late night bar-1pm on a Monday. Two rooms are affected, room 14 and 15 and it is like being in the bar. I messaged the operator this in the middle of the night-of course I knew there would be no response, but I was making them aware at the time to show I was trying to be proactive with the problem. The staff at the hostel were rude to me and I had three hours sleep, because it was an early start the next day. Tiegan also let me know the office knew and they’d get back to me. Nothing. I prompted them mid morning and received a ‘we’ve been busy today but we’re investigating’ generic response. Nothing. It’s now 11 days later and… nothing. I stay in hostels all the time BUT, I wouldn’t choose a hostel with a bar in it-and nor should a tour company. A tour advertised with a ‘ceilidh’ and fun is very different to the second hand noise of a bar in your dorm- this is directed to the female in the office who was trying to convince me three hours sleep was acceptable. Being that sleep deprived really spoilt my next couple of days as all I wanted to do was go to bed. That no one could even apologise is pathetic. I’m currently booking another tour to Scotland but on the basis of the total indifference from the office, I won’t be using Haggis again.Show more

They also reassured you that the next accommodations were not near any pubs/bars. They sent a message as soon as the tours check in for that day was over and had opened the shop. They never received any response from you after this. They did apologise to you, and did extend suggestions for dinner around Portree once you had settled that evening. They also advised that the issues were passed on regarding the hostel to our operations team. Not once did anyone say it was acceptable that you only had three hours sleep. I am sorry you felt the situation was not handled accordingly, but I trust the team did all they could to acknowledge that you had had a poor experience on the first night, they apologised, and advised they were on hand if you required anything further.
