Itinerary
- Day 1
Puerto Maldonado
You'll land in Puerto Maldonado and head straight to the Monte Amazónico Lodge office for your briefing. After a boat ride out to the lodge and some welcome refreshments, you'll get settled into your room. This morning includes a guided 2-hour walk through the tropical forest where you can look for toucans, monkeys, and snakes. In the afternoon, head over to Monkey Island to see capuchins and tamarins in their habitat. Later, as evening rolls around, you'll take a night boat ride along the Madre de Dios River searching for caimans along the banks.

- Day 2
Sandoval Lake
Start with an early breakfast, then take a short boat ride to the entrance of Sandoval Lake. From there, you'll hike about 3 kilometers to reach the lake itself. Once you arrive, you'll explore by rowboat, keeping an eye out for birds, monkeys, giant river otters, and potentially the giant alligator. By lunchtime, head back to the lodge for a typical meal. After that, you'll make your way back to the city.
