Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Luang Prabang
After your airport pickup, you'll head to the hotel and settle in. If time allows, you can check out the Royal Palace Museum to see some interesting artifacts from the region. Then walk through Wat Xiengthong, which has those distinctive low-sweeping roofs that show off classical Laotian architecture really well. You'll also get to see the stupa at Wat Visoun and visit the shrines at Wat Aham and Wat Mai if there's enough daylight left.

- Day 2
Mekong River Cruise
Early morning you'll start an upstream cruise on the Mekong River. First stop is Xiengmene where you'll visit Wat Long Khun and explore the limestone Tham Sakkarin cave, plus walk through Ban Xiengmene village. After a picnic lunch on the boat, you'll continue upriver seeing the countryside from the water. Then comes Pak Ou Caves with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues that pilgrims have left there over time. You'll stop at Ban Xanghai to see how local rice wine gets made, and end at Ban Phanom to check out the hand weaving work happening there.

- Day 3
Villages and Waterfall
You'll cross the Mekong by boat to reach Ban Chan, the pottery village. In the morning, head to Phousi Market where you can find dried buffalo skin, local tea, saltpeter, vegetables, and hill-tribe weavings among other things. Then explore craft villages from different Lao ethnic groups: Hmong at Ban Ouay, Laoloum at Ban Ou, and Khmu at Ban Thapene. Later in the day, get to Khuang Si Waterfall where you can swim in the pools or hike the forest trails. You'll head back to Luang Prabang by late afternoon.

Departure
Depending on your flight departure time, you might have some leisure time to relax or do last minute shopping. Then you'll get a transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
