The driver needed to concentrate fully on the road so we were reluctant to seek information from him about what we were seeing along the way. Hotels were fantastic but for a shopper like me of the unique crafts of India I would have like the hotels to be closer (within walking distance) to some of the shops selling these things. We had part of some afternoons/mornings where we could have ventured out exploring alone. He was very attentive to our needs. Venkey negotiated the travel with exceptional skill. All local guides were very interesting. We were fascinated with the Hindu temples and enjoyed the lush scenery. We felt the drive to Kumarakom was long for the short stay and would only do it again if staying 2 nights.
