Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    San José

    You'll arrive at San José International Airport where staff will meet you. After handling luggage and going through customs, a transfer takes you to your hotel for check-in.

  2. Day 2

    San José to Tortuguero

    Start early from San José, driving through Braulio Carrillo National Park toward the Caribbean coast. Grab breakfast in Guápiles, then board a one-hour boat ride to Tortuguero, watching for wildlife and birds along the way. After settling into your hotel and having lunch, your guide takes you through the local town to learn about the community's culture and traditions.

    Tortuguero

    Spend the day on boat cruises through Tortuguero National Park's canals, where you'll spot over 300 bird species plus monkeys, crocodiles, and iguanas moving through the lush rainforest. When you want a break, the hotel's pool, hammocks, walking trails, and souvenir shop are all available to relax.

  4. Day 4

    Tortuguero to Arenal

    After breakfast you'll head back into the canals for your transfer toward Arenal. Stop in Guápiles for lunch, then continue on to the Arenal rainforest area, home to the impressive Arenal Volcano where you'll be based for the next couple of days.

    Arenal

    A 2-hour guided hike takes you along a scenic trail at Arenal Volcano's base through rainforest, learning about the 1968 eruption and how the area has naturally regenerated since then. Later, head to Baldi Hot Springs, the region's largest hot spring complex, featuring multiple pools at different temperatures, walking paths connecting them, and water slides if you're feeling adventurous.

    Your transfer to Monteverde follows a scenic route combining different transport types. Travel by van first, then board a boat for a 30-40 minute crossing of Lake Arenal with views of small islands and mountain scenery. A van meets you on the other side for the final drive to your Monteverde hotel, totaling about 3.5 hours.

  7. Day 7

    Monteverde

    Walk through Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve on nature trails through wind-sculpted elfin woodlands and sheltered areas with towering trees draped in orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and mosses. The nine different trails offer chances to see resplendent quetzals, hummingbirds, jaguars, ocelots, and thousands of insect species throughout the forest.

    Manuel Antonio

    Head into Manuel Antonio National Park with a professional guide on the easiest trail, a flat 2-mile loop through the protected area. You'll spot tropical butterflies, exotic birds, monkeys, and orchids. About halfway through, take a 20-minute break at Third Beach to rest on the sand or swim in the Pacific while your guide explains wildlife behavior.

The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
