It's safe to travel in Lhasa for a single traveler. Currently, we don't have a group departure on 1 September 2025.

Is this tour guaranteed to take place? If not, what about on 17th May? If the tour is cancelled, would those who book get a refund? What is the cost of the single supplement and any hotel upgrades? How many days ahead is needed to organise the visa for China and any permit for Tibet? What are the covid and other vaccination requirements for China?

Yes, this 6D Lhasa Gyantse Shigatse Group Tour will take place on 13 May. If the tour is canceled, those who booked will get a refund. In general, we would not cancel a confirmed tour unless any uncontrolled situation happens such as a pandemic, war, earthquake, etc. If you place a booking on the TourRadar, a single supplement will be added, around USD125 based on 3-star and USD185 based on 4-star, which is the amount we usually charge. May I know your nationality? Visitors from some European countries don't need a China visa at present. If you apply for a China visa now, it takes 2 to 4 weeks to get one, a little bit late for this trip. No such requirements now.

Could you provide name of 3-star and 4-star hotels that is offered for the tour? I am deciding between the two.

a 6-day/5-night Lhasa Shigatse group tour with Great Tibet Tour in September 2019. There are three times group airport pickup and drop off included. It is about a 1-hour journey from the airport to the central city. I stayed at the Shangbala Hotel in Lhasa. Most of the clients in the Shangbala Hotel were foreign. I enjoyed breakfast at the Shangbala Hotel. Every morning, my guide will meet us at the hotel hall around 9:30 am. So I can enjoy a good sleep. The tour guide and driver were both Tibetan. They will talk about Tibetan history and their lifestyle with us. I felt relaxed during my trip. I will recommend this Tour to my friends and family who would like to travel to Tibet.Show more

I traveled with my parents to Tibet for the first time. We all can only say great things by the tour guide given to us by this agency. We would recommend this agency to anyone traveling to Tibet. And our tour guide Lobsung was very special to us. He waited in the airport for us after our flight was delayed due to weather. We where all exhausted, I'm sure he must have been too, but he greeted us very kindly. He was extremely accomodating to us and was constantly there to help us with anything.   25 April 2025 is not confirmed now but we can open this group departure and wait for other tourists to join. The group is open based on 3 pax. You don't need a China Visa to stay in China within 15 days. We need the scan of your passport to apply for the Tibet Travel Permit.

I'm afraid neither of the passports can enjoy a visa-free policy currently. 5. No. You just need a China visa. 6. Yes, but it's a little bit late for the Tibet tour in May. Maybe a tour in June is more feasible, as China visa application takes more than 2 weeks to one month. 7. No. Please do not mention Tibet during your China visa application.

  How does one apply for a visa without mention of Tibet? The Chinese visa application asks for the itinerary including flights and hotels. Do you assist with an alternative itinerary for the same week for the purpose of visa application? As to the Tibet permit, how does a tourist receive it at a China address if one is flying in from abroad and only transiting at a major airport?

Yes, we will assist with an alternative itinerary for the same week of your stay in Tibet. For the Tibet permit, if you only transit at the airport, we will ask a local agent to deliver the permit to you in person, but extra manpower will get involved in and extra fee will be produced. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before July 22nd, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after July 22nd, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Great Tibet Tour. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Great Tibet Tour will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
