What people love about Spain Tours from Lisbon
The tour is highly recommended for its awesome views, rich Catholic history, more than average accomodation and full breakfast. Well-organized tour staff. I recommend you come in a group of friends to enjoy more. Although I gave the tour a rating of excellent-5, there were minor glitches. First, only 2 of 7 rooms were ready when our group of Filipino-Canadians arrived at the Holiday Inn Express Lisbon at 1pm. Second, the bus air-con stopped working from Zaragoza to Poblet ... temp reached 29 deg inside the bus, I guess this event is unavoidable. Good thing the driver was able to reset the system and worked it out on the next stsge of the trip. Third, we were left behind to commute back to our hotel after dropping as at Plaza Mayor for dinner. Fourth, opt for the Flamenco dinner at 9pm ... which was just below the Ventas Bullring ... we should have watched for the Bull fight at 6 pm that day if only our guide mentioned the Flamenco venue. Lastly, we had no return bus from Las Ramblas to our hotel. Don't get me wrong ... this was a superb tour of Spain and Portugal ... just some logistics issue from Europamundo (the tour operator). We will be back next year, maybe Vienna, Budapest, Prague Tour.

For us this tour was a fill in before we started our real holiday in Barcelona. Hotels were good, bus was excellent - had Wifi too. Guide was good, pleasant but lacked local knowledge ( all announcements were read from a script). Her English was very poor - she admitted that she had not spoke English for 10 years. Her commentaries in Spanish sounded great and went for 8 minutes then the English commentary lasted less than 1 minute, which meant that we had to listen carefully to the Spanish delivery to try to figure out when she was talking in English. Her English sounded like Spanish. We didn't understand that this tour was part of a segmented tour, meaning that the actual tour started before we boarded on our first day. There were other changes where people were moved to other busses to go on other tours to different cities. All of this was not a problem, but it would have been nice to know before we started. My only real other issue is that we didn't know what we were doing or seeing each day - apart from what was in the brochure. There was no build up, or summary of what to expect each day. The general content of the tour was spectacular and worth doing again.

We just returned from Lisbon / Northern Spain with Globus. In general we had a very positive trip, particularly with Lisbon, San Sebastian and Barcelona. The pace was quicker then my previous tours (four two nights and three one nights); on the plus side you do get to see a lot, but overall we concluded that a slightly slower pace is better as sometimes you just need a little bit of extra time to get a feel for a location. Most of the stops on the drive were fine (we did hit bad weather up north, so honestly that impacts your impression) and the optional excursions were generally very good - particularly France in the Basque region and Montserrat. The included meals were also pretty good - better than previous tours we have been on, including Globus. Hotels were uneven - some very good, most pretty good, one or two poor (Tryp Apollo in Barcelona). Most hotels did have very good breakfasts. That being said, what really made the trip memorable was the group we were with - and our amazing tout director Luis. He was by far the best tour director we have ever experienced; he was knowledgable, funny, informative, and on top of everything. There was not one glitch the entire tour; even when a participant became ill and needed medical attention, he handled everything seamlessly. He was always around, easy to find, and amazingly patient and graceful with questions I am sure he has heard a million times. Our driver was also excellent, handling some really tiny turns / streets with more agility than I could with my compact car, lol. He was also a gentleman through out. Overall I do recommend this tour, just be prepared for the pace - and keep fingers crossed that your welcome poster has the name Luis as tour director !!
