If I book the hotel after the tour ends in Hong Kong, will the tour operator provide transportation from the final tour finish point to the hotel?

If I book the hotel before the tour start in Hong Kong, what time will I be able to check-in? Is early check-in possible, and how do I get from the hotel to the tour's starting meeting point?

Could you please provide: 1) Pricing for comfort level accommodations (private rooms/upgraded hotels) vs the current shared room price of $2,171, and 2) Detailed visa requirements for this tour?

The standard accommodation is hostels with the option to upgrade to a private room within the hostels. We don't offer this trip using hotels. We can provide you with an invitation letter that you will use for your China tourist visa. You may be required to attend the embassy in person to collect your visa. There's limited information we can provide on this as we're not visa specialists.

Is it possible to request private rooms for a couple on this trip, or is it in hostel dorms ?

The standard room type on the tour is dorm rooms in hostels. However, if you would like to upgrade to a private double room as a couple, this is possible. The twin/double room upgrade is priced at £420 GBP (210 per person). The upgrade does not apply on the overnight train, but you can also upgrade this too for £30 GBP per person.

I am 63 and healthy. Can i join the Trip?

While we appreciate you're eager to join this adventure, I need to make you aware the recommended age range for this trip is 18-55, however, that's not to say you can't join this trip as we can sometimes be flexible with this. I need to make you aware of the following: • This trip can be spent walking up to 20,000 steps most days and you would be expected to be able to keep up with the group as we need to stick to a strict schedule. • Although the recommended age range is 18-55, the majority of guests that join this trip expect to join a group of younger people. The majority of guests that have joined for this trip are in their 20's and early 30's. • The standard accommodation is hostels with the option to upgrade to a private room within the hostels, excluding the camping on the great wall. If you're happy with the above, and are still keen to join this trip, we would need for you to complete our tour suitability form which is intended to help you understand the type of trip you'll be joining and help us understand if we think the trip will be a good fit for you.

Do you offer any tours covering Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong for 8–12 days in February or March?

We have a few trips available, but none that travel during February because it's too cold and the majority of activities won't run during that time. The earliest dates we have available that visit Beijing and Shanghai would be for the 5th April 2026. But this trip doesn't visit Hong Kong. They also might be interested in joining our China Unveiled: 18-Day Journey from Hong Kong to Beijing. This trip doesn't visit Shanghai though.

We are 73 and 78 old travelers. So can we still go with your company?

We have the age range in place to set the group dynamic. Although we have the age range in place, the majority of guests that book this trip are in their 20's and 30's and expect to join a trip with younger travellers.

I am interested in your different travel oportunities you offer for China. In the text it says, that it is for people under the age of 56 years. I am 61 years old and I would like to know, whether there is a chance to book such a tour.

Whilst we have the age recommendation in place, we can be flexible and see travellers between 55-65 joining these trips too. We have a tour suitability form which we ask travellers to fill out, to declare any health or fitness issues.

The itinerary was very comprehensive with several of China's flagship destinations, alternating between major cities and more rural areas. Each day was filled with diverse activities, many of which were included in the tour and there was enough free time to do our own things. The local guides change at each destination and are therefore familiar with their province. The Yangshuo and Fujian guides are without any doubt the best of all the trips I've done so far. The tour touches on all the iconic aspects that China has to offer (architecture, history, food, tea culture, rice paddies, pandas, etc.). There was a problem with a train reservation, but the guides settled it in less than 30 minutes and we were offered a meal to compensate for the problems.Show more

The itinerary was well designed and thought out with a balance of activities and downtime to do what I wanted, I never felt I had too much or too little to do during the trip. My highlights were probably The Great Wall of China, seeing the shaolin monks and exploring Shanghai. Although there were some long journeys, the views from out of the window never made you feel like you travelling for too long because there was always something interesting, beautiful or unusual to see. The tour guides were all very friendly and informative and knew so much about their country! As a solo traveller I was nervous to begin with, but having a good group of people really made me feel welcome.Show more

This tour gave me the opportunity to really see a lot of China in a relatively short time. Yangshuo was beautiful and all the activities there were breathtaking. I was traveling during the national holidays, so it was really crowded everywhere, but everything still went well. It was also good to always have a guide with you, as otherwise you really had difficulties with communication. The guide in each city changed and some were less motivated than others. There were also days that were a bit stressful. My highlights definitely included Yangshuo, Beijing and Xi'an. The time in Shanghai could have been shortened, in my opinion there wasn't that much to see there.Show more

  The standard accommodation is hostels with the option to upgrade to a private room within the hostels. We don't offer this trip using hotels. We can provide you with an invitation letter that you will use for your China tourist visa. You may be required to attend the embassy in person to collect your visa. There's limited information we can provide on this as we're not visa specialists.

Is it possible to request private rooms for a couple on this trip, or is it in hostel dorms ?

  The standard room type on the tour is dorm rooms in hostels. However, if you would like to upgrade to a private double room as a couple, this is possible. The twin/double room upgrade is priced at £420 GBP (210 per person). The upgrade does not apply on the overnight train, but you can also upgrade this too for £30 GBP per person.

  While we appreciate you're eager to join this adventure, I need to make you aware the recommended age range for this trip is 18-55, however, that's not to say you can't join this trip as we can sometimes be flexible with this. I need to make you aware of the following:
  
  • This trip can be spent walking up to 20,000 steps most days and you would be expected to be able to keep up with the group as we need to stick to a strict schedule.
  • Although the recommended age range is 18-55, the majority of guests that join this trip expect to join a group of younger people. The majority of guests that have joined for this trip are in their 20's and early 30's.
  • The standard accommodation is hostels with the option to upgrade to a private room within the hostels, excluding the camping on the great wall.
  
  If you're happy with the above, and are still keen to join this trip, we would need for you to complete our tour suitability form which is intended to help you understand the type of trip you'll be joining and help us understand if we think the trip will be a good fit for you.

  We have a few trips available, but none that travel during February because it's too cold and the majority of activities won't run during that time. The earliest dates we have available that visit Beijing and Shanghai would be for the 5th April 2026. But this trip doesn't visit Hong Kong. They also might be interested in joining our China Unveiled: 18-Day Journey from Hong Kong to Beijing. This trip doesn't visit Shanghai though.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before May 28th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after May 28th, 2026, a minimum payment of 5% is required to confirm your booking with The Dragon Trip. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 75 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
