    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten March 2026

Our 4th September 2026 departure currently has 6 travellers booked, so we're therefore happy to confirm it as guaranteed. Please note this particular departure will end on 27th September in Shanghai, this is due to the Mid-Autumn Holidays taking place across China.

The Optional Activities on this tour are booked and paid for during your tour. So quite commonly these will need to be paid in cash, or sometimes through China's payment apps.

If I book the hotel before the tour start in Hong Kong, what time will I be able to check-in? Is early check-in possible, and how do I get from the hotel to the tour's starting meeting point?

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten February 2026

This trip uses hostels and not hotels. There's an option to upgrade to private rooms within the hostels if that's preferred.

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten February 2026

Your transportation is included to get to Hong Kong on day-27, but not to get you to the accommodation. Your adventure leader will be able to offer directions for this before you leave China as there will be no adventure leader in Hong Kong.

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten February 2026

If you would prefer an early check in, you would need to book the night before your morning arrival. Check in is at 15:00.

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten January 2026

The standard accommodation is hostels with the option to upgrade to a private room within the hostels. We don't offer this trip using hotels. We can provide you with an invitation letter that you will use for your China tourist visa. You may be required to attend the embassy in person to collect your visa. There's limited information we can provide on this as we're not visa specialists.

  • J

    Jose

    Asked on January 25th, 2026

Is it possible to request private rooms for a couple on this trip, or is it in hostel dorms ?

    Accommodation
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten January 2026

The standard room type on the tour is dorm rooms in hostels. However, if you would like to upgrade to a private double room as a couple, this is possible. The twin/double room upgrade is priced at £420 GBP (210 per person). The upgrade does not apply on the overnight train, but you can also upgrade this too for £30 GBP per person.

    Age Range
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten January 2026

While we appreciate you're eager to join this adventure, I need to make you aware the recommended age range for this trip is 18-55, however, that's not to say you can't join this trip as we can sometimes be flexible with this. I need to make you aware of the following:

      • This trip can be spent walking up to 20,000 steps most days and you would be expected to be able to keep up with the group as we need to stick to a strict schedule.
      • Although the recommended age range is 18-55, the majority of guests that join this trip expect to join a group of younger people. The majority of guests that have joined for this trip are in their 20's and early 30's.
      • The standard accommodation is hostels with the option to upgrade to a private room within the hostels, excluding the camping on the great wall.

If you're happy with the above, and are still keen to join this trip, we would need for you to complete our tour suitability form which is intended to help you understand the type of trip you'll be joining and help us understand if we think the trip will be a good fit for you.

Do you offer any tours covering Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong for 8–12 days in February or March?

    Tour Details
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten January 2026

We have a few trips available, but none that travel during February because it's too cold and the majority of activities won't run during that time. The earliest dates we have available that visit Beijing and Shanghai would be for the 5th April 2026. But this trip doesn't visit Hong Kong. They also might be interested in joining our China Unveiled: 18-Day Journey from Hong Kong to Beijing. This trip doesn't visit Shanghai though.

Our client is available to travel in March. Do you have any other tour options aside from the two you previously forwarded?

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten January 2026

They might also be interested to join our Hong Kong to Chengdu Express: 11-Day China Discovery. Aside from this, it's difficult for us to accommodate them in all requested cities within their desired timeframe during March.

We are 73 and 78 old travelers. So can we still go with your company?

    Age Range
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten January 2026

We have the age range in place to set the group dynamic. Although we have the age range in place, the majority of guests that book this trip are in their 20's and 30's and expect to join a trip with younger travellers.

I am interested in your different travel oportunities you offer for China. In the text it says, that it is for people under the age of 56 years. I am 61 years old and I would like to know, whether there is a chance to book such a tour.

    Age Range
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten January 2026

Although the recommended age range for this trip is 18-55, we can sometimes be flexible with this. The age range is intended to set the overall group dynamic, as the majority of guests that book this trip expect to join a trip with a younger age demographic. The standard accommodation is hostels in multi-bed dorm rooms with the option to upgrade to a private room. You will be camping for 1 night on the great wall of China.
