Great trip, interesting places to visit. Have gained so much insight into the history of the region. Nice group of 7 people and an awesome tour leader. It was a very active trip, with lots of walking….not for the faint hearted! As you have to carry your luggage up and down a lots of stairs at train stations and hotels without lifts, you need to be able to lift and carry it yourself. Travel light! Food was good, there was plenty of time to do our own wandering ( and laundry) etc Two or 3 nights in most hotels was very good.Would definitely recommend an Intrepid holiday to anyone who wants to be on the move, learn about the places you are in and see a few places off the beaten path!Show more

It wasn’t the Orient Express (couldn’t afford that), but it was a wonderful tour with a small group of amazing travellers and guide. It was well organised and the guide took good care of us all. I have no hesitation in recommending the tour, as long as you ensure you have a medium level of fitness (high level for old people - I’m 75). There is a lot of walking with hills, stairs and cobbled streets.Show more

Short & sweet trip. The weather didn't cooperate & we didn't get to see the Northern Lights. However, Gisli our guide/driver from Intrepid Travel was brilliant: he changed our glacier walk to a different day because he made the effort to look ahead to the forecast & realized that we would likely not be able to do it on the designated day. The price of the trip was reasonable. Accommodations & breakfasts were included but not transportation from airport to hotel & back to airport.Show more
