Itinerary
- Day 1
Linz
You'll arrive in Linz and settle into your hotel, then head out to get familiar with the city. Your Linz Card gives you free access to public transport and museums, so this afternoon you can check out the Ars Electronica Center if that interests you. Later, take a walk along the Danube or find a spot for dinner at one of the local restaurants to end your first day.

- Day 2
Linz
This day starts with a hike up Pöstlingberg, a 539-meter peak that's popular with visitors. The walk winds through residential neighborhoods, passes by the Anton Bruckner Private University and Linz Zoo, and follows the Danube valley. Once you reach the top, you'll get panoramic views across the city and toward the Alpine foothills. Then you can spend time at Pöstlingberg Adventure World, which has an illuminated cave railway and a replica of Linz's main square from 1900. If the full hike feels like too much, the Pöstlingbergbahn railway can cut it short (it's one of Europe's steepest). Later, you'll do the Häppchenpass, which is basically a walking food tour hitting ten different shops around the city for small snacks and samples.

Linz
Start at the Palace Museum, Austria's largest universal museum with historical and modern architecture mixed together. You'll walk through the palace courtyards and then head to St. Martin's Church, one of Austria's oldest. From there, make your way to Freinberg where Franz-Josef-Warte sits, and climb 137 steps for views of the city, Pöstlingberg, the Danube, and the Alpine foothills. During the afternoon, board the MS Linzerin for a harbor tour that shows you the city from the water, including the Mural Harbor with Europe's largest graffiti gallery. End the day with dinner at Stiegl-Klosterhof, a traditional restaurant.

Linz to Salzburg
After breakfast in Linz, you'll take a train to Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey itself is scenic, so enjoy it. Once you arrive, check into your hotel and pick up your Salzburg Card, which gives you free entry to Hohensalzburg Fortress, DomQuartier, and Mozart's birthplace, plus unlimited public transport. This evening, walk around the old town or try some traditional restaurants to get a feel for the place.

- Day 5
Salzburg
You'll start early with a hike up Mönchsberg, one of Salzburg's main city mountains. The views over the old town are great, and you'll come across the Museum of Modern Art and medieval fortifications along the way. The best viewpoint is Richterhöhe, which shows off the city and surrounding area nicely. In the afternoon, head to the Stiegl brewery for a guided tour where you'll learn about their brewing process, the brewery's history, and beer culture in Salzburg. You'll get to taste some Stiegl beers too. After that, the evening is yours to relax.

Salzburg
You'll hike to Hellbrunn Palace, one of Salzburg's well-known spots. The route takes you through Nonntal valley, past the university's Faculty of Natural Sciences, and down a tree-lined avenue to the palace. Once there, check out the famous trick fountains and wander around the park, which is really peaceful and nice for just sitting. Getting back to the city center is easy using public transport. In the afternoon, grab original Salzburg dumplings and a hot drink at the traditional Stiftskulinarium St. Peter. If you want something special for the evening, you can book the optional Mozart Dinner & Concert, which combines classical music with fine dining in a baroque hall.

If you need train tickets for the return journey, those can be arranged, and you have the option to go back through Linz if that works better for you.
