Itinerary
- Day 1
Penzance
You'll arrive in Penzance, a historic coastal town on Cornwall's far western edge. The town has Georgian and Regency buildings mixed with subtropical gardens, so there's plenty to see if you want to walk around. The Egyptian House is worth checking out, and if you're interested in maritime history, both the Maritime Museum and National Lighthouse Museum are here. By evening, grab some fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants along the waterfront.
Optional Activities
- Visit Egyptian House
- Explore Maritime Museum
- Visit National Lighthouse Museum
- Dine at local seafood restaurants

Penzance to Porthleven
This morning you'll head out along Mount's Bay, and St. Michael's Mount rises right from the water as you walk the wide beach. The route stays fairly flat through Marazion, then gets steeper as you pass old tin mine remains on the cliffs. After working through secluded coves and inlets, you'll reach Porthleven by afternoon, a working fishing port where you can have lunch or dinner at the quayside restaurants.

The rock formations here are quite striking, and the views across the water are excellent. If you time it right, you'll catch the sunset over the sea from this remote spot.

There's an option to head inland to St. Keverne if you want to see the village square and its cemetery, which has over 400 castaways from Manacle Reef buried there. This historical detail adds some context to the area's maritime past.

There's a pub near Frenchman's Creek (the one from Daphne Du Maurier's novel) if you want to stop for lunch there. The path continues along the Helford River with nice coastal views, passes Trebah Gardens, and ends in Falmouth, the biggest town you'll hit on this route.
