  We really enjoyed our trip to China. From the minute we arrived to the day we left transfers, hotels, coach, guides, etc. were first rate. We were greeted at the airport, guided to a luxury car, given water and then driven to our hotel in Beijing. The hotel and room were 5*, as would be the next 2. All hotels were very busy at breakfast, lots of people, a wide array of food choices. Given I am newly a type 3C diabetic, it was not easy to find things I like while still keeping my blood sugar low. Having travelled quite alot, I understand our idea of breakfast is different around the world so it was obvious our hotel did well to cater to likes of all nations. The included meals were also quite a contrast to what I am used to; I tried many things but I have always been picky when it comes to food. So all in in all, I always was able to eat enough... Lets just say I did not gain any weight. We visited all the main sites in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. We only went to one of the optional outings, the acrobats that were quite good and worth the additional cost. Our guides in Beijing and Xian were very good, unfortunately I can't say the same for our guide in Shanghai; her english was just not good enough. She tried though. I loved our time in China, we were able to get a real sense of how great this nation was, is and will be. The number of people, how modern it is, the facilities, the infrastructure, the affordability... It's mind blowing. Tourradar and its partner Tomato Travel easily gave us the best tour we have been part of, hands down, no dispute. I would highly recommend using this company to anyone planning a visit. Well worth the price. Maybe flying between the cities would have been better? Not sure... The train rides are long while flights would have been quicker and maybe even cheaper. I trust Tomato Travel made the best choice. Thanks to all that ensured our trip would be memorable.Show more

  Awesome Birthday Trip!! I did have such an incredible experience with this tour. I was in a group of 10 people. Man the hotels accommodation were far the best I have ever had on a tour and have been on many tours before and to many countries but at this price, I couldn't believe these stays. These were surely 5 star hotel experiences. Our guides were very wonderful and always on time, there were lots of beautiful places to see in this tour and as someone that chases after world wonders, i was delighted to finally make it to the great wall of China. Streets in China were very safe to walk to even in the night as a solo. I didn't know what to expect coming into this tour as an Afro-Canadian, but trust me, I left very impressed and do encourage all to book this tour, you won't be disappointed!!Show more

  Overall, the tour was a wonderful experience, and I was able to see and enjoy most of the attractions and experiences I had hoped for. There were, however, a few areas where improvements could be made to enhance the overall experience. The hotels in Beijing and Xi’an were excellent, providing a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, the accommodation in Shanghai was not quite at the same standard. I particularly appreciated having some free time in the evenings to explore the cities independently. However, one challenge was that the hotels were located quite far from the city centres, making it difficult and less convenient to explore nearby attractions, restaurants and local areas during our free time. Staying in more central locations would greatly improve this aspect of the tour. In terms of the itinerary, I believe reducing the stay in Beijing by one day and allocating that extra day to Shanghai would make the tour more balanced. After a long journey to Shanghai, having only one day to explore felt quite limited. An additional day would allow travellers to experience more of the city without feeling rushed. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and appreciate the effort put into organising it. With some adjustments to the hotel locations, accommodation standards and itinerary, I believe the experience could be even better for future travellers.Show more

  Shanghai section of tour could use some improvement. Hotel wasn't great. Guide didnt really give any info on Shanghai. A minibus was sent to the train station instead of a normal sized bus to transfer 10 passengers with luggage. Our luggage could barely fit and was falling off the seats during trip. Also Bund and Xintiandi are both upscale shopping areas. It would be good if one of them were changed with some place like Fuyou Rd and Yu Garden. Its a much better place to do some last minute souvenier/clothes shopping and has a very nice vibrant local feel in the evening. This would be perfect if the river cruise is included immediately after as its nearby.Show more

  I did not like the whole tour. Just the outside structure sight seeing. Carrying our suitcases throughout the escalator in fact multiple escalators particularly at Xian train station and I had a fall. I suffered deep wound at my Right Knee still unhealed up to now >21 days days already. I also got sick on our way to Xian and others too. Immediately right after a tired long trip to Xian, we were asked to walk into crowded Muslim market which has no appeal for a tourist spot, instead of dropping our luggage first at the hotel and have a rest and to have a snack. I did not join The ff day for a tour and also at Shanghai. I brought my wound and cough in Tibet. It was also a crap in Beijing where a hired photographer sold us over priced group pictures on heavy material tour book. There is nothing enjoyable abt this tour.Show more

  Overall feedback: Needs Better Planning and Transparency While there were positive aspects, the overall experience fell significantly short of expectations due to key logistical issues and misleading itinerary components. Areas Needing Major Improvement: * Arrival Logistics: Upon arriving at the airport, I was left waiting for almost two hours for the driver to arrive, which was a very frustrating start to the trip after a long flight. * Hotel Locations: Although the hotels were nice, they were located far outside the main city centers, making it difficult to explore independently during free time. * Intercity Transfers: Transitions and moves between cities were poorly communicated, often accompanied by vague or inaccurate information regarding transit details and expectations. * Stop at Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Clinic: This was the most concerning part of the itinerary. The visit felt heavily commercialized and predatory. Following an extremely brief examination, expensive medications were prescribed without any inquiry regarding personal medical history or allergic reactions (food or drug). Furthermore, all labels and instructions were exclusively in Chinese. Upon translating the documentation after purchase, I discovered the prescribed medication was entirely unsuitable for my condition. What Went Well: * Tour Guides: The local guides were knowledgeable, helpful, and provided good service throughout the journey. * Meals: The included food was decent and acceptable overall. * Hotel Quality: The accommodations themselves were comfortable and of good quality. Final Verdict: Because of these major lapses in logistics and transparency, my experience was less than satisfactory. I strongly advise prospective travelers to thoroughly research options, read real customer reviews, and clarify all logistical details before booking a package with Tomato Travel.Show more

  Tour was well-organized and loved all the places we visited. The hotels in Beijing and Xian were excellent but Shanghai hotel was not as good. The highlight for me was Xian’s The Great Warriors. The crowds really went crazy yet no untoward incident despite the pushing and shoveling.Show more

  The highlights of the trip were definitely the history and the tour guides. They were knowledgeable, engaging, and did a great job bringing China’s history and culture to life. I learned a lot throughout the journey, and the historical sites were impressive. The food was also very good, with a nice variety of local dishes and experiences. My main criticism is the amount of travel time. I understand that some long travel days are unavoidable on a tour of this size, and I was fine with having one full day dedicated to travel. However, having two separate travel-heavy days made the itinerary feel more exhausting than enjoyable. I would suggest either shortening the stay in Beijing by one day or replacing one of the longer travel segments with a flight to make the journey more efficient and allow for more time exploring. Overall, this was a memorable trip with great guides, fascinating history, good food, and excellent accommodations at the beginning of the trip. With a few adjustments to the transportation schedule, it could easily be a 5-star experience.Show more
