Auckland to Raglan
Travel along backroads to Bridal Veil Falls for a short walk through native bush to reach the waterfall. You've got a free day in Queenstown to do whatever calls to you. Breakfast comes with your accommodation, so start there and then decide what sounds good. During winter months from early June through early October, the Southern Alps open up for skiing and snowboarding, which changes what's available depending on when you visit. As the sun rises, head to the beach for an included surf lesson with Spot X at one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the country. The afternoon is free to explore your surroundings, soak up views of Solitary Islands Marine Park, do a rockpool scramble to look for creatures, or wander to Mullawarra beach for a picnic.

Rise early to journey to K'gari (Fraser Island), the world's largest sand island and a World Heritage Area. Upon arrival, experience a traditional welcome by the Butchulla people. Get straight into 4WD adventure, swim in Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie), hike beneath the rainforest, and walk along the beach during sunset. Train journey to Cairns
You'll head out early and settle in for a relaxing train ride through Queensland's sugar-cane fields and coastal countryside. The route takes you north toward Cairns, which serves as the main access point for the Great Barrier Reef. This is a day to sit back and take in the changing landscapes as the train moves through rural areas and small towns, with the scenery gradually shifting from inland farmland toward the coast. By the time you arrive in Cairns, you'll have covered quite a bit of ground and gotten a real sense of the region's agricultural heritage and natural environment.

Cairns
Cairns is a great place to visit if you love warm weather (it would be unusual for the temperature to drop below 68°F/20°C) and want to see the Great Barrier Reef. Take advantage of a free day to book one of many optional activities. Snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, get your adrenaline pumping by whitewater rafting or skydiving, and cap it all off on a big night out in Cairns with your fellow travelers.
