Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Perthshire
You'll drive into Perthshire through some beautiful Scottish countryside after you arrive. There are a few filming locations worth stopping at along the way, like Glen Tilt or the spots connected to Rob Roy. If you want to add more to the day, Scone Palace and Perth Museum are both optional stops that work well with the route.

Perthshire to Inverness
The drive heads north through Cairngorm National Park and into the Highlands proper. You'll visit the Clava Cairns, which fans of Outlander will recognize from the show. If you're interested in history, Culloden Battlefield and its visitor center tell the story of the 1746 battle and what happened to the Highlanders afterward.

- Day 3
Inverness to Isle of Skye
You're traveling through the Highlands today with chances to see Loch Ness if conditions work out. The area's known for the Nessie legend, and there's Urquhart Castle in ruins on the loch if you want to stop. Eilean Donan Castle is another option, featured in Highlander and some Bond films. By evening you'll reach the Isle of Skye.

- Day 4
Isle of Skye
Skye's dramatic landscapes are the focus here, so you'll see the Old Man of Storr rock formations, walk through the Fairy Glen valley, and explore The Quaring where they filmed Macbeth and other movies. Dunvegan Castle with its gardens is optional if you want more time on the island. You'll end the day in Portree, the island's main town with colorful buildings.

Isle of Skye to Oban
After taking the ferry from Armadale to Mallaig, you'll head south along the Road to the Isles. Glencoe is the main stop with its dramatic mountains and Harry Potter filming locations. You can also see the Jacobite Steam Train at Glenfinnan if timing works, and there's Loch Shiel and Loch Eilt nearby if you want to explore further.

Oban
This is an optional day trip to the Hebridean islands of Mull and Iona. Mull has wildlife like eagles, deer, seals, and dolphins, and was used for filming Entrapment. Iona is where Christianity spread to the Highlands and has a monastery complex, plus you might see puffins there between April and July.

Oban to Trossachs
You'll drive through the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, which was Scotland's first national park and has connections to Rob Roy's story. Doune Castle is a main stop, famous for being Winterfell in Game of Thrones, Castle Leoch in Outlander, and appearing in Monty Python. Kilchurn Castle is another option if you want to see some beautiful ruins.

Trossachs to Edinburgh
Start at Bannockburn Battlefield where Robert the Bruce won against the English in 1314, then drive to Edinburgh. You'll walk through the Old Town and Royal Mile, stopping at places like Greyfriars Kirkyard which inspired Harry Potter characters, George Heriot's School which inspired Hogwarts, and Victoria Street which inspired Diagon Alley.
