After that, you're heading to Glencoe to walk around the mountain scenery and hear about the history of the 1692 massacre that happened there. Once you arrive, you'll see the colorful Italian Chapel before heading into Kirkwall, the main town on the islands. In the evening you're free to explore, and St Magnus Cathedral from the 12th century is worth checking out if you have time.

This Outlander tour was wonderful. It was booked with Rabbies which was excellent. The group was a group of 15 people which I liked. The bugs driver/ tour guide Lizzie was fantastic. Super sweet and chock full of stories and knowledge. The itinerary and overall organization was good. I felt we did a lot more Outlander heavy stuff on day 1 and day 4 which I loved. In the town of Falkland, we had dinner and further spend much time exploring there and got tons do some photos but that felt a bit rushed and this town I looked forward to see while area small, I wanted to soak in a bit more. We entered all castles with no issues as 99% of them came pre booked or were free to enter with exception of midhope castle. The accommodations provided were both excellent in my opinion. I was very happy where I stayed and had a full Scottish breakfast at both places. During the tour there were plenty of times bathroom breaks and a lunch break. The tour bus was easy to find in Edinburgh with the instructions provided and we were dropped off same location with ease. I highly recommend.

Our guide was excellent. She was friendly, organized and very knowledgeable I must say I have been on many tours but she is the best I have encountered yet. There were many sites to see and we saw all of them. Once again I have to say we were mot rushed.

Our guide, Ross took this tour from great to absolutely outstanding. Ross is a published photographer and knows the Highlands like the back of his hand. Each photo stop we made was breathtaking. The tour of the Geopark in the Northwest Highlands from Ullapool must be experienced! Thank you, Ross, for making my visit to my ancestral homeland in Glen Coe a cherished memory. Our accommodations exceeded my expectations. The group size is ideal. I will seek out other journeys through Tour Radar.

    Asked on August 29th, 2024

Could you please tell me about luggage for the North Scotland, Loch Ness and Orkney tour. I will be taking a small bag with clothes etc which can go in the hold, plus my camera gear which is in a bag 38cm x 30cm and would be with me on board. Is this acceptable?

    Tour Details
    • On The Go ToursOperatorWritten August 2024

You're restricted to 20kg of luggage per person. This may consist of a small bag for onboard personal items and a larger suitcase or rucksack, with dimensions of 55cm x 25cm x 45cm. We can refuse to carry luggage over these limits, and there's a possibility you may not be allowed on board if you've not stored your excess baggage.
