  The overall experience of seeing Portugal, in particular Lisbon and Porto, was amazing. The itinerary allowed us to see a number of beautiful places such as Sintra and Cascais, as well as the Duoro Valley. We were a little surprised by the fact that we had a guide allocated just for the two of us on our organised tours - we've always been a part of bigger groups on tours so that felt a little strange. Having said that, all our guides were absolutley wonderful - knowledgable, friendly and full of suggestions. It was great trip.Show more

  "Best of Lisbon and The Azores: City and Nature Wonders" TOUR RADAR via Portugal Travel Center 2026 PROS Local driver-guides were professional, knowledgeable, and engaging. Their extensive knowledge also allowed them to serve as our guide at specific sites, such as the Cork Factory in Evora. Their vehicle's cleanliness and air conditioning was also appreciated. The small size of the groups was very nice. In fact, we were the only three people in the Lisbon tour portion. Transfers to/from hotel or airport were on time and vehicles were always very clean. Hotels were 4 stars, located near or fairly close to historic districts, and included breakfast. Would have been nice to have USB ports near the bed. The hotel in Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel island even had a restaurant on site for dinner as well as a pool. The Fado Show and dinner at A Severa Casa de Fados in Lisbon was outstanding. A nice mix between time spent on the mainland and in the Azores with plenty of free time to explore on your own. Most questions posed to TourRadar via their website were promptly answered. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT An option to schedule a direct flight from Sao Miguel to Boston would have saved us considerable time and stress at the end of the tour. As a result, we had to fly back to Lisbon (departing our hotel at the early hour of 6:00 AM), only to return to the airport the following day for our flight to Boston. The extra time and expense for an additional day in Lisbon could have been avoided. Although a confirmation number was listed on the itinerary for the included flights to and from Sao Miguel, we received no updates from TourRadar regarding these flights. As a result, we had to email TourRadar several times because they did not respond, and download the SATA/Azores Air app to try and confirm that our flights were still booked and on time. There was no tour representative or formal orientation upon arrival in Lisbon for the start of the tour. This is a valuable resource many other tours offer because it provides much more practical information than what is covered on the tour operator's website. Basic geographic orientation (especially when there are few street signs), learning that most restaurants don't open until 7:00 PM or later, and where to best purchase souvenirs (e.g. wait to buy cork products until you are in Evora) would have been really helpful. Transportation to the Fado Show in Lisbon was not provided. Finding the restaurant was a nightmare because few streets have name signs. Including transportation would have been a better way to start the tour experience. Sintra: Visits to the Pena Palace and/or Regaleira were indicated as optional but other than saying tickets needed to be purchased online ahead of time, no other information was provided. As a result, we didn't know how much time to allow for optional site visits, when to schedule them, and if they would take away from other sites included in the tour. Also, the itinerary was not current. For example, the Moorish Castle is currently closed for renovation. The room accommodation in Sao Miguel for two people in our group who were traveling together was incorrect. Fortunately, the hotel was able to rectify the error. Caldeira Velha thermal baths require advance reservation, which was not mentioned in the itinerary. As a result, we brought swimsuits and towels thinking this was part of the tour. Swim towels ARE provided by the hotel in Sao Miguel. TourRadar's advice to bring our own towels was not correct. Since a swim towel takes up considerable space and TAP Air strictly enforces luggage size and weight, this type of information is important. BOTTOMLINE If you're looking for a small group adventure with minimum stress and hassle, this is probably not the type of tour you want. If you don't mind doing quite a bit of planning yourself and visit both the mainland and the Azores, this tour has more free time and access to really good local guides than what other tours may offer. Of note: We arrived three hours before our flight's scheduled departure but it took over two hours to navigate five checkpoints in the Lisbon airport for our international flight back to Boston on September 19, 2026. After the first two or three checkpoints, you must pass through the shopping and restaurant area. If you stop to shop or get a snack, you risk missing your flight. While the process was a bit faster when we arrived in Lisbon on the 10th, it still took a while. This is useful information to note on the "Information" section of the itinerary for anyone flying internationally.Show more
