The hotels were better than expected. But, the location of our hotel in Shanghai was terrible. It would have been fune if our tour included a bus and tour guide in Shanghai. But this particular tour just had a free day to explore Shanghai on our own. We were in this hotel fot two nights and dependung on our flights some of us had 2 free days to see Shanghai. Unfortunately the hotel was a 20 minute walk from the hotel and another 30-45 minute metro ride to attractions. Some members of our group missed the fact that entrance fees to attractions were not included and that a tipping kitty would be collected from the group, these additional fees were less than $300 and I felt the trip was excellent value. I would use On The Go Tours again but I would make certain of hotel locations in any city or town that was billed, "on your own".Show more

The location of the Holiday Inn Express in Beijing was sub standard, the area was run down the adjacent shops were all closed. The shopping mall was dirty and only 2 floors were open.Some tour members felt unsafe. The accomodation in Xi’in was not up to the standard of the other hotels. The hotel room smelt of cigarettes ( ingrained into curtains and carpet) and air freshener was used to try and mask the smell. We saw guests smoking in other rooms when we passed them with the door open.The basically clean otherwise.Show more
