- Day 1
Hanoi
You'll arrive in Hanoi and spend the day getting a feel for the city's character and French colonial buildings. Walk through tree-lined streets at your own pace, then meet your tour leader and group around 6pm for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Hanoi to Ha Long Bay
Head out early for a four-hour drive to Ha Long Bay, where roughly 3,000 limestone peaks rise from turquoise water. You'll cruise through the karst landscape and have seafood lunch on your boat. That night you'll sleep in twin-share cabins aboard a traditional junk-style vessel.

- Day 3
Ha Long Bay to Hanoi
Continue exploring Ha Long Bay this morning before heading back to port. The four-hour return drive gets you back to Hanoi by afternoon, leaving time to relax or check out the Old Quarter with its specialty markets and Hoan Kiem Lake. There's an optional water puppet performance if you're interested.

Hanoi to Da Nang to Hoi An
After breakfast you'll head to Hanoi Airport for a flight to Da Nang. Once there, explore Marble Mountain's caves that served as a Viet Cong hospital during the war, with nice views over My Khe Beach and the surrounding countryside. Then you'll drive about an hour to reach Hoi An.

- Day 5
Hoi An
A morning walking tour takes you through Hoi An, a mid-16th century European trading port with wooden merchant houses, temples blending Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and European styles, a riverside market, and silk shops. The afternoon is free to wander around town on your own, with an optional trip to My Son available.

Hoi An to Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City
After breakfast you'll travel to Da Nang Airport for a 1 hour 25 minute flight to Ho Chi Minh City. This energetic place has scooter-packed streets, temples, and modern buildings mixed together. In the afternoon you'll tour the Saigon Central Post Office, Reunification Palace, and War Remnants Museum with its photography from the Vietnam/American War.

Ho Chi Minh City
You'll head north to Cu Chi, where a 150-mile underground tunnel network runs beneath the ground. This was used by the Viet Cong during the war, and some sections have been widened so you can walk through them. Later you'll return to Ho Chi Minh City with the rest of the day free to explore on your own.

Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap, Cambodia
Transfer to Ho Chi Minh City Airport and fly to Siem Reap in Cambodia (about 1 hour 15 minutes). Your Cambodian tour leader will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day getting acquainted with Siem Reap's lively atmosphere.

Siem Reap
Rise early to watch sunrise at Angkor Wat, then explore the temples throughout Angkor Thom including the Bayon with its 54 ornately carved towers. You'll also visit Ta Prohm, which remains covered in jungle vines exactly as archaeologists found it. This UNESCO World Heritage site is genuinely one of Southeast Asia's great archaeological achievements.

- Day 10
Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
A seven-hour road transfer takes you to Phnom Penh, which gives real insight into Cambodia outside the tourist areas. You'll stop along the way to rest and eat lunch. One stop includes the Santuk Silk Farm, a fairtrade operation that supports rural workers. You'll arrive in the Cambodian capital by late afternoon, with an optional Mekong River sunset cruise available.

Phnom Penh
Visit two important historical sites that document Cambodia's difficult past: the Genocide Museum (a former Khmer Rouge prison) downtown and the Killing Fields about 9 miles outside the city. These locations provide context for this tragic chapter in the nation's history. The afternoon tour includes the Royal Palace and its Silver Pagoda, and you'll see the city's fine French colonial architecture throughout.
