  1. Day 1

    Port Moresby

    You'll arrive in Port Moresby and meet with Trans Niugini Tours staff at the airport. From there, you're transferred to your hotel where you'll stay for the night and settle in.

  2. Day 2

    Port Moresby to Tari Valley

    You'll start with a transfer from your hotel to Jackson's Airport, then take a domestic Air Niugini flight to Mount Hagen. From there, a small aircraft brings you to Ambua Lodge. Once you arrive, spend the afternoon walking jungle trails through the rainforest. You'll pass by waterfalls and cross traditional vine bridges along the way, getting a real feel for the landscape around the lodge.

  3. Days 3 - 4

    Tari Valley

    This day focuses on exploring more of Tari Valley and Ambua Lodge's jungle trails. You'll wander through lush rainforest, stopping to see waterfalls and the traditional vine bridges scattered throughout the area. It's a chance to take your time and see parts of the trails you might have missed the day before, letting you get a deeper sense of the rainforest environment.

  4. Day 5

    Mount Hagen to Karawari Lodge

    Take a charter flight over rugged mountain landscapes to Karawari airstrip, then transfer by river boat to Karawari Lodge perched on a ridge overlooking the river and jungle. After lunch, head out on a boat trip to a nearby village to learn how locals harvest and prepare sago, their primary food source.

  6. Day 7

    Karawari to Mount Hagen

    You'll fly by charter from Karawari to Mount Hagen, and during the flight you'll see mountains rising dramatically out of the Sepik Basin flatlands below. After landing, head to Mount Kuta's Rondon Ridge, which sits high above the Wahgi Valley. The views from up there are quite something, with panoramic sights stretching across the valley in all directions.

    Head to Kagamuga Airport and board a charter flight to Goroka. Spend your full day at the Show Grounds with a buffet lunch included. Later, fly back to Mount Hagen by charter and return to Rondon Ridge for the evening.

  8. Day 9

    Mount Hagen to Goroka Show to Mount Hagen

    • For any tour departing before April 8th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 8th, 2026, a minimum payment of $850 is required to confirm your booking with Crooked Compass. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
