Itinerary
- Day 1
Toluca
You'll start your day with a guided hike up Nevado de Toluca, Mexico's fourth highest volcano. The trail takes you through mountain terrain where you'll see the two crater lakes nestled at the summit, offering views across the surrounding peaks. After coming down from the volcano, you head into Toluca's historic center to walk around the colonial architecture and get a feel for the city. Later, you visit the Cosmovitral, which features the world's largest stained-glass structure with art nouveau design. The botanical garden there gives you a chance to rest and take in the craftsmanship of the glass work up close.

Amecameca
This trip moves through the Valley of Mexico toward El Paso de Cortes, a mountain pass at 3,400m that sits between two volcanoes. From there, you reach La Joya high mountain hut at 3,977m where you'll stop before starting a 4-hour guided hike on an intermediate trail. The hike takes you higher into the mountains, ascending to between 4,200 and 4,800m as you move toward the snow line of Iztaccihuatl. You'll see snowcapped peaks and views of Popocatepetl during the trek. Once you finish hiking and head down, you make your way to Amecameca's historic center where you explore local market food and try regional dishes.

- Day 3
Tlaxcala
You climb La Malinche, Mexico's sixth highest volcano, which reaches 4,461m. A 6-km hike takes you to the summit where you walk through natural mountain scenery and take in the views from the top. After descending and catching your breath, you visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan, known for its distinctive white-plaster facade and the Baroque interior with ornate details. From there, you spend time in Tlaxcala's well-preserved colonial historic center, wandering the old streets and checking out the colonial buildings and plazas that make up this part of the city.
