Itinerary
- Day 1
Colombo to Kandy
You'll arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo where your private driver meets you. From there, it's a drive inland toward Kandy with a couple of stops along the way. First you'll check out Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to see the rescued elephants, then visit an Ayurveda herbal garden to get a sense of traditional healing practices. By evening you'll reach Kandy, the hill capital, and settle into your hotel for the night. The drive takes around 3 to 4 hours including stops.

- Day 2
Kandy
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll start a city tour of Kandy. The main highlight is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism's most important pilgrimage sites. You'll also walk through the Royal Botanical Garden, which has beautiful collections of plants and nice views over the city. Later that evening, there's a traditional cultural dance show where you can see classical Kandyan dancing and other local performances. You'll return to your hotel for your second night in Kandy.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
You'll have breakfast and then head toward Nuwara Eliya, a cooler highland town sometimes called Little England. On the way up, you stop at Ambuluwawa Mountain where there's a biodiversity complex with observation decks and walking trails through different forest zones. Later you visit a tea factory and get to walk through an actual tea plantation with views of Ramboda Waterfall in the distance. If you want something more active, there's optional white water rafting at Kitulgala. You'll arrive in Nuwara Eliya by afternoon and can enjoy the cool, pleasant climate up there.

- Day 4
Nuwara Eliya
This morning starts early. You'll grab a packed breakfast and head into Horton Plains National Park for hiking and wildlife spotting. The park has dense forests, mountain views, and if you're lucky, you might see sambar deer or other wildlife. By mid-morning you're back at your hotel to rest and have lunch. In the afternoon, you'll explore Lake Gregory, walk around Pedro Tea Factory, check out Lover's Leap Falls, and visit Seetha Amman Kovil, a small temple. It's a full but not rushed day that takes advantage of the high altitude scenery.

Nuwara Eliya to Yala
After breakfast, you're heading toward Yala, which means a couple hours of driving across the island. On the way there, you'll stop at the Nine Arch Bridge (a beautiful old railway viaduct) and Ravana Waterfall. Around 3:00 PM you'll meet up for a jeep safari through Yala National Park. This is where you look for leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and other wildlife. The safari usually goes until late afternoon, then you head back to your hotel in the evening.

- Day 6
Yala to Mirissa
You'll have breakfast and then visit Tissa Wewa reservoir and the nearby Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara, an ancient temple with interesting historical significance. From there, you head to Tangalle to try buffalo milk curd (a local specialty) and spend some time at the beach. Later you continue down the coast to Mirissa, checking out Coconut Tree Hill with its views and Parrot Rock Bridge. By evening you're in Mirissa having seafood dinner and relaxing by the beach. It's a good day for getting comfortable with the coastal lifestyle.

- Day 7
Mirissa
Early in the morning, you'll head out on a 4-hour whale-watching tour from Mirissa. Depending on the season, you might see blue whales, sperm whales, or other marine life. Back at your hotel by mid-morning, you'll have the rest of the day to relax on the beach, swim, and just hang out. In the evening there's a beach party and you can check out the local nightlife if you're interested.

Mirissa to Colombo
After breakfast, you're traveling to Galle to explore the historic Galle Fort with its lighthouse and the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct (converted colonial buildings now full of shops and cafes). Then you head to Bentota for a river safari through mangrove forests on the Madu Ganga, which is peaceful and great for spotting birds. If you want more activity, there's optional kayaking and other water sports. You'll also visit the Bentota Turtle Hatchery to learn about the conservation work with rare sea turtles. Later that day you drive to Colombo for a city tour hitting the Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, Galle Face Green, Colombo National Museum, and the modern One Galle Face Mall. It's a full day covering the south coast and ending back in the capital.
