Itinerary
- Day 1
Islamabad
You'll arrive in Islamabad and head to your hotel to settle in. After lunch, a guided tour takes you through both Islamabad and Rawalpindi. You'll see the Faisal Mosque, climb up to Daman-e-Koh hilltop for views across the cities, drive along Constitution Avenue to see the President House, Parliament, and Supreme Court buildings, then finish at Raja Bazaar in Rawalpindi for some shopping.

Islamabad to Kaghan Valley
The drive north from Islamabad heads toward Kaghan Valley with a stop at Taxila. You'll walk through the archaeological site with remains from 500 BC to 500 AD, check out the museum and old monastery, and see the ruins of Sirkup. From there, you'll travel through Abbottabad and enter Kaghan Valley, surrounded by green Himalayan landscape.

Naran
You'll travel deeper into Kaghan Valley, passing small stone and wood villages surrounded by rice paddies. Following the Kunhar River, you might spot Gujjar nomad caravans. By afternoon, you reach Naran village and visit Saiful-Maluk Lake, where Malka Parbat peak reflects in the deep blue water (according to local legend, the lake is named after a prince who fell in love with a fairy bathing here).

Naran to Chilas
Following the Kunhar River north, you'll pass through Gujjar summer settlements on the way to Basel, a highland pasture at 3,266 m (10,715 feet). Next comes Lulusar Lake, then crossing Babusar Pass at 4,150 m (13,615 feet) where alpine flowers dot the landscape. You'll descend to Chilas on the Indus River for the night.

Chilas to Skardu
Traveling the Karakoram Highway, you'll follow the Indus River north to where the Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hindukush mountain ranges meet, and where the Indus and Gilgit Rivers converge. The route cuts through deep mountain gorges heading east toward Skardu. You'll explore Skardu town's narrow bazaar, visit historic Kharpocho Fort, then camp at Satpara Lake.

- Day 6
Skardu to Khaplu Valley
You'll head into Shigar Valley to see terraced wheat, maize, and barley fields backed by snow-capped mountains. Orchards here grow apricots, mulberries, peaches, plums, pears, apples, and nuts. The town has traditional carved wooden houses and mosques worth seeing. After lunch, you'll drive to neighboring Khaplu Valley, once Baltistan's largest kingdom, where you can visit an old wood-carved mosque and walk among terraced fields.

Khaplu Valley to Hushe
You'll board soft-top 4x4 jeeps for an exciting ride toward the K2 base camp trek start point. The route passes through Machlu village where you can see Mashabrum Peak. You'll arrive at Hushe, a small green village that serves as the main starting point for people trekking or mountaineering toward Concordia.

Hushe to Kachura Lake
You'll drive back to Skardu and then continue 30 km to heart-shaped lower Kachura Lake. The Shangri-La resorts around the lake are some of the most beautiful accommodations in northern Pakistan. From there, you'll go 4 km further to upper Kachura Lake where you'll camp for the night.

Kachura Lake to Gilgit
After breakfast at the safari camp, you'll say goodbye to the staff and head back through the Indus River's deep gorge toward Gilgit. Along the way, you'll stop to see the 7th-century rock-carved Kargah Buddha (the valley was once a route for Buddhist monks traveling to Taxila). Later, you'll walk through Gilgit's colorful bazaars.

- Day 10
Gilgit to Karimabad (Hunza Valley)
You'll head through scenic routes toward Hunza Valley. The drive passes the old Silk Route perched above the riverbank, which Buddhist monks and traders once used. As you go north along the Hunza River, watch for the towering Rakaposhi peak. You'll stop at a viewpoint for views of this mountain, then continue into Karimabad, Hunza Valley's capital.

Landmarks Rakaposhi - Day 11
Karimabad (Hunza Valley)
This is a free day to explore Karimabad at your own pace. You can visit Altit and Baltit Forts, or take walks to Ultra Glacier and through village irrigation channels, or wander the single-lane bazaar with views of Karakoram peaks all around. The local Hunza people are known for their longevity and self-sufficient lifestyle, growing their own food and making traditional crafts.

Karimabad to Besham
You'll drive along the Hunza River on the Karakoram Highway, getting different perspectives of the Karakoram peaks. After lunch in Gilgit, you'll continue south to Besham on the Indus River for an overnight stay.

Landmarks Hunza River - Day 13
Besham to Islamabad
An early start makes sense for the long drive back to Islamabad along the Karakoram Highway. You'll stop in Besham for lunch, and by evening you should reach Islamabad. From there, you'll head to your hotel.

Islamabad Departure
In the morning, you'll transfer to the airport for your departure flight heading home.
