Itinerary
- Day 1
Varanasi
You'll start before dawn at 5:00 AM and head to Assi Ghat to watch pilgrims going through their morning rituals along the water. From there, walk into some of the local temples scattered through the area where you can receive traditional blessings from the priests. There's also a chance to see traditional mud wrestling happening at a local akhara if you're interested in that side of things. By the time the sun comes up, you'll board a boat and float along the Ganges, where you'll see priests performing their prayers and observe the sacred cremation rituals taking place at Manikarnika Ghat. After the boat ride, make your way through the old city's narrow, winding alleys on foot until you reach Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is pretty hard to miss with its golden spire. Head back to your hotel afterward for some tea and time to process everything you've seen and learned about the spiritual significance of the city.
