The tour itself was fantastic! Lourens, our guide was one of the best guides i have had the privilege of doing a tour with. He knew all the best spots to see, and things to do and even gave us some extra insights that only someone truly passionate would take the time to learn about. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great tour of the Garden Route.

I was hesitant to book this tour because I have never been to Africa before. I was afraid for my safety and there were too many preparations (such as vaccines/camping equipment) for a week-long trip. However, this whole experience changed my mind and my preconceptions about Africa. We had an epic time with Patrick and Helms. They are both rockstars! Patrick is an exceptional person and a natural leader. He is an all-around guide, entertainer, cook, driver, doctor, foot splinter-remover etc. He made sure to accommodate everyone's needs, especially those with dietary restrictions. He immersed us in African culture by teaching us the phrases from different languages and singing songs. There is not a day that we do not sing "Jambo Bowana" except the first day he taught it to us because we all just woke up from our naps. Helms is the sweetest person on this tour! He is a reliable driver with a mechanic background. Our vehicle, Lando, had popped a tire and sparked a fire. His split second decision to stop and evacuate all passengers has prevented serious/lethal injuries. The Lando was not equipped with proper emergency gear and we had to ask passing vehicles for their fire extinguisher and jack. Helms remained calm and focused on fixing the Lando. Unfortunately, the damage was worse and the Lando could not continue on. We had to wait for a couple of vans that took 5 hours to get to us. Helms was left behind to watch over the vehicle for the next 3 days ALONE in a highway where lions roam at night. He prioritizes our safety and comfort. Throughout the entire trip, I know that I can trust this man with my life! I hope G Adventures would develop concrete/feasible back up plans for situations like these to protect their employees. The people of Africa are welcoming and kindhearted. My favourite part was to see the Okavanga Delta people. It was a wholesome, humbling and heartwarming time. Despite their limited resources (i.e., food/water), they still carry an optimistic outlook. This is an unforgettable experience! It saddens me that this tour had come to an end, but I am filled with joy to have seen Africa with such a great company. And I would do it all over again if I can have the Patrick and Helms! I can't name a better duo. Thanks guys!

I had the most amazing time and I have to say that a key component to the joy I felt on this trip were my 2 CEOs, Berven and Helmes - they absolutely made this trip and I can't imagine what it would've been like without them

Overall the trip was amazing! I cannot say enough about our incredible guide Matt!! Do be aware that there are lots of early mornings and some of the hotels have very thin walls. Also be advised that even though the minimum age says 10, a 6 yr old was allowed on the 2nd half of the tour. Not all guests do the full 14 days, some only do the first or 2nd half and this can change the dynamics of the group. That being said, the tour itinerary and activities are excellent for the adventurous and active traveler. Amazing experience I will never forget.

I have NEVER written a bad review for a company before and truly hate being the "Karen" customer, but I am so saddened by my experience with Expat Explore Travel. I spent thousands of dollars to go on the South Africa Escape - 14 Day tour. Two days before the tour, when my flight was scheduled to depart, my passport was stolen at the airport and I could no longer go on the tour. While I completely understand that I signed the terms and conditions, was required to get travel insurance, acknowledge that times are tough in the post-Covid world, etc., I thought Expat would at least offer some type of flexibility in my situation. They offered zero. No opportunity to reschedule, no coupon, nothing. I never would have expected (or even wanted) a refund, but I thought they'd at least offer SOMETHING in such unfortunate circumstances. I do not believe for a second that Expat didn't make some kind of profit off of my payment and they had no problem keeping 100% of what I paid for and telling me I'd have to rebook at full price in the future. Every person - and potential customer - who I have told about this situation has been absolutely shocked at the way it was handled. I have gone back and forth with Expat, but ultimately, keep being directed to work with my travel insurance. Again, I am aware that there are structures in place by Expat's management and legal teams to ensure the preservation of their company after the Pandemic, but I felt this was greedy, extreme and terrible customer service.

Sunsets in Africa was organized, great at communicating with us, and the team provided us the trip of a life time. Highly recommend this tour.

This three week tour lets you see the best of the north and the south. Doing the north first made sense as it was much more fast-paced while the south was more relaxing. Sometimes they seemed like two different countries. We were lucky enough to spot all the major animals, including with offspring. The traveling companions were also congenial, and both trip leaders went out of their ways to make sure we had a comfortable and insightful experience.

The tour was made the success it was because of the knowledge and flexibility of the the tour guide. So be prepared to alter plans due to weather and group dynamic. I’d definitely recommend this trip, we had an amazing time and every experience was breathtaking.

Lots of driving. Was disappointed guide kept answering his phone when driving at 110 kmph. Didnt feel safe. Also he did not call anyone by their name the whole time. Elephant walk, cango caves and suspension bridge were the highlights

The tour was amazing. We had a large variety of experiences and excellent guides. Everything ran very smoothly. We would highly recommend this tour.

Cost-effective with great guides -- Zach Tathane and Jonathon Muller. However, our objective is to photograph memories rather than just get to the next hotel. Don't necessarily need more tours but you must add more photo stops!

Intrepid travel transportation, wildlife guides, and Bundox lodge staff were all exceptional! We would highly recommend this tour! Amanda, Siya, Emmanuel, Eulanda, Harrison, Tanya & Quintin, Rest, Lillian, Deena and Belinda, the masseuse, all deserve great thank yous from us. Jim and Susan .

The guides (Mambo, Daniel, Jackson) on the Cape Town to Vic Falls leg where excellent. The intinerary is good, except the "Okavango" is not the real Delta. It's the Panhandle, it's boring and you don't see the real Delta. It's fake advertising. The guide Joe on the Vic Falls to Jo'burg leg is the worst guide I ever met. He’s an authoritarian dictatorial leader who makes the whole tour revolve around himself, not around the travel experience, with his constant commenting on everything that crosses the view. He completely dominates the whole space, constantly drawing attention to himself, and wants to be in control of every move, restricting your movement. After a discussion over an open truck window with another group member he threatened to put me out of the tour in front of the whole group, accused me of disrespecting the crew and called me a racist out of nowhere. Next his behaviour during the game drives on the truck in Kruger Park is disgraceful. Every serious guide knows you’re supposed to keep quiet while actually viewing, photographing and enjoying the wildlife. Joe on the other hand is constantly making silly remarks on EVERY animal we encounter. Not once, but over and over again, while driving or while standing still to watch. (buffalo soldier, donkeys in pyjamas, pumba, gnu gnu gnu, heep heep hippo, impala = McDonalds, chicken impressions, hyena sounds, provoking elephants to charge, commenting every move, etc... it goes on and on). In response to my complaint, INTRPID believes this behaviour on game drives is ok, they ignore the false racism accusations, and repeat the guide's lies on "his authority being undermined" (yes that's what this person is all about). Avoid being stuck with this tour leader.

Accommodations were perfect locations. The 2 guides were more like family as we were only 3 travellers. Had an amazing time. Should extend to a 7 day tour given the 2 days lost travelling to and from Kruger. Would definitely travel with Drifters again.
