From checking the availability it allows me to upgrade to a twin room with two single beds which would be perfect for us. I just wanted to check if this upgrade applied to all of the places we would stay or just certain venues?

If you are booking for 2 people, then the twin/double room upgrade is perfect. The upgrade will apply throughout the whole tour.

Can I change the return ticket? What's the flight do you use?

International flights are not included and would need to be booked separately. Our team would be happy to advise you on the best times to arrive and depart for the tour. This tour starts in Hong Kong and finishes in Beijing, so if you want to extend and spend more time in Hong Kong after the tour, this would need to be your own booking.

Last time there were barely any men on the trip. I'd prefer to travel with a few other men as well. Can you tell me how many men/women/binary people have signed up for this particular trip/route?

For the 17 Day China trip departing on the 20th July 2025, there's currently 9 guests. 3 are male and 6 are female. Guests are aged 19 and into their 30's with the majority of them being late 20's, early 30's.

I see any age restriction I am 68 years old would I still be able to go?

This trip can only accommodate guests aged 18-55. However, we do have the 10-Day China Premium Tour: Beijing, Xi'an & Shanghai that can accommodate guests aged 18-75.

Is it possible to pay with a crypt?

The experiences were amazing and the sights were next to none. However, when you book the tour the company fails to mention how much extra money you will need. I was told that activities and travel were paid for when I paid the lump sum but when I arrived there were only selected activities paid for and most of them were free anyway and I had to pay for metro travel. I as well as my group started to wonder where the money we had spent had actually gone. The actual trip was amazing but I felt slightly ripped off especially as they advertise this trip as a budget trip. Show more

The tour was set at a good pace and i liked the fact that we had a lot of excursions to choose from. The tour guides were friendly, helpful and very supportive, even when i ended up in hospital. i was so glad they were there. Accommodations in some locations exceeded my expectations whilst others could of been a bit better. Overall its been one of the best trips i have had and have recommended it to so many people. Our first day in Hong Kong we were met by a new young Group Leader who arrived at the Hostel in a fluster, gave no introductions or information and quickly ran us off to Victoria's Peak for a quick look up there. After Hong Kong, it was a painful trip via the Hong Kong metro, carrying all our luggage as we changed lines, for some 40 mins before arriving at the border of HK and mainland China. We were then put on a cramped tiny van for some 3 hours for our trip to Yangshuo. We stayed in the 2nd worst accomodation in town, 2nd after Monkey Jane's. Apparently Monkey Jane's was the choice of accomodation previously but was changed due to several complaints. And it was pretty easy to see why. We had a few beers at this establishment our first night. A bit grotty hostel, not much better than our current one , and run by a nasty woman who tries to rip off drunk visitors, espcecially ater treating them to a few rounds of beer pong - beware this woman, the workers there and this establishment in general! We are hosted here by a young lady named Sally and we are even taken to her home village. This is a great experience. It was then onto on of our many long train journeys across China, the won longest being 16 hours and 25 hours. This was a painful experience. If you can handle the train system of China, you can handle anything. Commuters smoke non-stop and you have little personal space. Chengdu and Xi'an - we had two cool group leaders in Sacha and Kidd. This parts of the tour were run smoothly and enjoyably. The highlight of the tour is probably the night stay on an unrestored part of the Wall, near Beijing. The camping was rough going but worth the sunset and sunrise, tourist free, which is a refreshing change from the rest of the country. YOu are hosted here by a young lady named Luna who did a fine job. The Dragon Trip is a no frills trip, can be pretty tough for the uninitiated in Asia. Some tips on improvement - invest in your trip leaders and invest in some slightly better accomodation. Show more

  We use youth hostels throughout the adventure and have created the tours with 18-29 year olds in mind. The tours will have 15,000-20,000 steps per day with at times an intense itinerary. Therefore, the majority of travellers will be in this age group. We believe that nurturing the group dynamics is crucial for the overall trip experience so we have created trips that can best cater for both younger and older travellers. Unfortunately, while we have a bit of flexibility with the age limits, we cannot extend this by 13 years.

  While we don't provide insurance directly, we do require all clients to have backpacker travel insurance when joining our trips. We recommend a policy that includes 'Bad Weather or Natural Disaster Coverage' for added security. Please ensure your client brings their travel insurance details with them, particularly for the trip briefing on Day 1. In the event of an accident, we may need to contact their insurance provider, so it's important they have the insurance company's name, phone number, and policy number ready! For recommendations, we find 'World Nomads' to be a great travel insurance provider.

  If we have to cancel the tour in case it is not safe to travel because of the political situation you would be eligible for a full refund. You will need travel insurance to join the tour so it's useful to get a cover that can cover this too.

Visa
- Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
- Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
Payment information
- For any tour departing before June 26th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 26th, 2026, a minimum payment of 5% is required to confirm your booking with The Dragon Trip. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 75 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and The Dragon Trip will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "The Dragon Trip" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
