Departure
Your journey to Oman starts today. You'll leave behind your regular routine and head toward a country that shifts dramatically from modern cities to endless dunes, rugged mountains to turquoise blue wadis. Today is all about getting to the airport and beginning your adventure.

Nizwa
You'll land in Nizwa, considered the cultural and spiritual heart of Oman. After picking up your rental 4x4, head into the souks where you can wander through stalls overflowing with gold, spices, pottery and dates. Don't miss the iconic Nizwa Fort, which sits as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with great views looking out over the green oasis and the Hajar Mountains stretching behind it.

Misfat Al Abriyyin - Wadi Nakhar
Today you're driving into the Omani countryside to see ancient mud towns and dramatic landscapes. You'll check out Al Hamra, one of the oldest mud towns at nearly 400 years old, then head to Misfat Al Abriyyin with its narrow stone houses and traditional falaj irrigation system. Later on, you'll hike the Misfat Trek through oasis fields and finish at Wadi Nakhar (Grand Canyon of Oman) to catch sunset painting the golden canyon walls.

Nizwa
You'll wake early at 06:00 to experience the legendary Friday goat market where locals haggle and the energy runs high. From there, you can wander the old town's narrow alleyways and mud-plastered houses with their spice-scented streets. Later you'll drive to see Al Aqr farmers' terraces with date palms and mango trees, then continue on to Birkat al Mouz where half-ruined mud houses show off a centuries-old irrigation system.

Nizwa to Jabal Akhdar
Today's a road trip toward the mountains. You'll drive toward Jabal Akhdar and stop at Wadi Tanuf, a dramatic gorge featuring abandoned village ruins and crystal-clear pools. Diana's Viewpoint comes next, offering epic mountain landscapes stretching out in all directions. By evening you'll arrive at your hotel high in the Hajar Mountains, where you can watch the sunset spread across canyons and peaks (around 80°F/27°C cooling to 65°F/18°C).

Jabal Akhdar
You'll wake up on the 'Green Roof of Oman' with views plunging down into deep canyons and lush green terraces below. Explore the Saiq plateau where winding mountain roads cut through pomegranate and apricot groves. If you want that adrenaline rush, there's an optional Via Ferrata climbing experience available in Alila Canyon.

Jabal Akhdar to Wahiba Sands
You're beginning your descent from the mountains today, and the landscape changes dramatically as you move from cooler peaks down to golden dunes. Drive past shimmering desert landscapes heading toward Sama Al Wasil Desert Camp, which sits hidden between the dunes. Check in to cozy chalets with handmade furniture and settle in for regional delicacies by the campfire under a clear starry sky.

Wahiba Sands
You'll start early in the Wahiba Sands after breakfast to explore the desert landscape. Book a dune drive at camp or cruise the roads independently to discover the terrain. During the afternoon head to Wadi Bani Khalid, a turquoise oasis that seems to appear out of nowhere, where you can swim and hike through rocky gorges. Back at camp by evening, you'll enjoy an open-air cinema experience with beanbags and flickering torches lighting up the stars.

Wahiba Sands to Muscat
Your last morning in the desert means watching the golden sunrise spread across the dunes. Then you'll drive toward Muscat, stopping in Sur to see traditional dhow boats. Later you'll check out Wadi Shab for a short hike and swim between rock faces to reach a hidden cave. As the day ends, you'll arrive at Qurum Beach in Muscat to catch the sunset over the open sea with salt air and memories from these past days.

Muscat

Drive along the scenic coast to Fins Beach with white sand and clear water where you can relax. Stop at Muttrah Corniche for a harbor-side break watching fishing boats and visiting cafes. If you want, climb the steps to Muttrah Fort for evening city views.

Drive through the Hajar Mountains on winding hairpin bends until you reach Wadi Dayqah Dam, one of Oman's largest reservoirs with stunning panoramic views stretching out. Take an off-road route to secluded Yiti Beach with turquoise water, then return to Muscat for a well-deserved rooftop drink to wrap up the day.
